It was my mums birthday and she chose to go to this restaurant as she loved it and we were all excited to go as we had heard good things about it. There were 5 adults and we had our two young children. When we got there the table was set up nicely and even had plastic plates and cutlery for the kids. Upon looking at the menu, we noticed that there didn’t appear to be any kid friendly meals (admittedly we neglected to check this prior to booking). I politely asked the staff if there would be anything our small children could eat (our daughter has a lot of sensory issues and anxiety towards food) and I was told that there was pork and rice, which I knew my daughter wouldn’t eat. I asked if it would be ok if they had any chips or if I could get a small serving for our daughter from the shop next door so our daughter could at least eat something while we still paid for 5 adult meals. We were told no and that they had a no outside food policy. As a past business owner, I do understand where they are coming from, however, it was for a small child, we were still ordering and paying for 5 adults. After I told my mum what happened, she went in and pleaded with the staff who said they would check with the manager, but the answer was still no. I would have had to sit at the other shop next door while my daughter ate her food and miss out on eating a meal with my family. This was extremely disappointing, especially for my mum on her birthday. Yes we should have checked the menu first, but I have never been to a restaurant that was so unacommodating. We wouldn’t have even been able to bring our own food for the kids. So we decided to leave without ordering anything. They lost the business...
Read moreThe entrees and mains are fantastic wonderful food there but NEVER order the desserts, especially the ever elusive and non-existent fried ice cream, so far from 6 visits they have not been available.
So my dining partner decided firstly on the 2 scoops of ice cream then decided on the banana split one with caramel and one chocolate, of course the caramel one came out, and sure enough, you guessed it the 2 scoops of ice cream rather than the other chocolate banana split lol.
Asked for what I ordered for to be supplied to be told 10 mins later 'kitchen closed'.... not good ocean....
Recommend,
If item not available TAKE IT OFF THE MENU!
KITCHEN CLOSE AFTER ORDER CORRECTED!
Then tried ringing the whole group bill to me!
Was a great day and meal until this, so definitely go for the mains and atmosphere but NOT for the...
Read moreWe were in Wynnum and one of the “locals” recommended Ocean Thai to us. I can’t thank that person enough. “Alfresco” dining, BYO wine Etc. and the best part, the food!! Wow, we were nearly done by the time we had finished our entree. A “mixed entree” which we felt was nearly a meal in itself. We then had the Penang Prawn Curry with coconut rice on the side, as our main. Fantastic, just enough spice and several large prawns. The coconut rice was delicious as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful although, “English” is not their strong suit. All in all, a wonderful experience. Oh, and by the way, there is a “Cellarbrations” bottle shop next door, which is very handy should you forget to bring a...
