We decided to give Petrichor & Co a try after a long walk in the morning. On arrival, a friendly staff member greeted us and advised us to pick a table either inside or outside, and we ended up sitting outside. Once seated, we ordered two coffees as usual, one large skinny cap and one iced soy flat white. My skinny cap was delicious, and was more on the bitter side but not overpowering. The iced soy flat white was quite refreshing and woke me up instantly after a sip. Food wise, I grabbed their free range eggs scrambled and rye sourdough toasts with wild mushrooms and tomato relish on the side; my partner was going to order their beef empanadas but was told they didn’t have any yesterday, and got the cheese empanadas instead. The scrambled eggs were good but not as tender as I’d liked and were bit too greasy for my liking. The sourdough was beautifully toasted, crunchy on the edge and chewy in the middle, but would have been better without butter on top (it is just a personal preference as I liked my toasts unbuttered). The mushrooms were absolutely the highlight of the dish, which were so tender and perfectly seasoned and also came in a fairly big portion. It was actually a mixture of mushrooms and black fungus, which we thought was a really lovely surprise. As for the empanadas , I cannot really comment on them as it was my first time having them. All I can say is they were alright, freshly deep fried but we did wish there had been a bit more cheese on the inside. The spicy pineapple relish though was the second favorite thing out of everything we ordered. It was already good on its own but even more delicious as a dipping for the empanadas. It was quite spicy on the first bite and may catch you off guard, but it would grow on us. I personally also really appreciated the combo of sweet and spicy, which contradicted the grease from the empanadas. The service was good throughout our stay and the two staff members who served us were both attentive and friendly. The coffees and food were served fairly quickly given that it was a bit busy at the time we visited. We did, however, wish there had been salt and pepper on the table as I would have loved some on my scrambled eggs. In general, it was a pleasant experience.

Excellent food, unique menu. Could be my top Brisbane cafe breakfast pick. In terms of the setting, north facing, accessible yet a relatively quiet side street. Subtle ambient music - appreciated, very friendly mature staff - comforting, but not overly spacious. I’d probably book if I was planning on going with any number of people. A nice bench above the sidewalk but I’d feel conscious about the room I was talking up if I was there to study at a table inside. Two dishes I've had: Aprea con Sobrebarriga Nutritionally, probably doesn’t need the eggs, the avocado and roasted sauce (chimichurri) are already two great, heavy creamy elements. In saying that poached eggs are my favourite, and tbh seeing them in the description was likely the deciding factor in my meal choice. The beef had a lovely tenderness as you’d expect but standout was the odd crispy end that added a great additional texture. There wasn’t an overwhelming flavour but there didn’t really need to be either as the roasted sauce, avocado and aprea all chipped in. Its hard to pick a stand out because the elements were actually so well balanced and complimented each other well; but!, if I had to pick one it would be the arepa, just for how surprisingly nice it actually was and the different texture bit brought to the meal. Petrichor's Patacon The crispy plantain was good, appreciably unique, at least to me, but probably twice as much as was necessary considering the volume of everything else on the plate. In saying that I wasn’t hard to get down and it didn’t feel like I was eating a plate of chips or anything. The freshness came from the super tender and moist chicken, avocado, sour cream and pickled jalapeños. A bit funny to eat with the size and texture of the plantain but civilised enough, the let down was just the ratio of these elements to the plantain.

Severely OVERPRICED, lacking attention to detail, tiny portion sizes. Very disappointing. They've got a menu up on their website, the prices at first glance looks like the standard overpriced cafe you'd find anywhere right? Portion sizes come out leaving us baffled. You see the empanadas (the nugget looking things in the basket), those cost us $18, that's a normal plate you see, the basket is 1/5th of the plate, and those empanadas are basically chicken nugget sized. I watch 5 yt videos and browse through Google images, these things are supposed to be double the size at least. What is going on guys? Did post-COVID inflation send Spain into a recession? Why are these empanadas so tiny??? Look at the milkshake I ordered, this thing cost $8 and you can see it's 50% ice after I finished drinking it, and I drank it SPARINGLY and SLOWLY, so you can imagine the ice cubes probably started out bigger. This place isn't next to any office blocks and isn't inside a shopping centre so why is the mark up so high? Needless to say, we were left feeling pretty disappointed. We live locally and regularly go out for food, it's unlikely we will ever come back here. Bonus; if you sit outside, one glance up will leave you feeling pretty grossed out. There's soot in the cobwebs overhanging the ceilings, zoom into my photo. What if some debris falls into the food or drink? It only takes a guy with a ladder and broom maybe 20 minutes tops to give it a good brush, looks like no one's ever attempted to clean it though.

Cafe Petrichor & Co offers a mixed experience for diners seeking a casual meal. During my recent visit with my partner, we found the food to be decent, although not exceptional. The cappuccino, in particular, fell short of expectations, lacking the depth and flavor one would hope for in a quality coffee. One significant downside of our visit was the wait time; we waited a whopping 40 minutes for our food to be served. This extended wait time could be a deal-breaker for those looking for a quick bite or with limited time to spare. However, despite the delay, the environment of the cafe was enjoyable. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it a comfortable place to spend time chatting over a meal. In summary, Cafe Petrichor & Co is just another cafe option to consider. While the food is acceptable, it doesn't particularly stand out, and improvements could be made, especially in the coffee department. If you're not in a rush and are looking for a pleasant setting to relax and enjoy a meal, it's worth a try. However, if you're seeking exceptional cuisine or service, you may want to explore other options.

We stumbled across Petrichor & Co while trying to escape the rain and find some early lunch. We dined in, sitting at one of the outdoor tables. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, with prompt service. The table was clean and not too crowded together with other tables. My friend and I ordered the Choripan and the chicken Quesadillas and absolutely loved both dishes. The Choripan is a South American chorizo sandwich - the bread was fresh, and the flavors complimented each other wonderfully. The spicy braised chicken quesadillas had the jalapeños on top so you are able to customize how spicy you would like the dish - which worked well for my friend and I having different spice tolerance. The Bang Bang smoothie was refreshing with a distinct ginger flavour. We also ordered an ice chocolate which was more similar to a cold hot chocolate than the typical ice chocolates with the syrup and ice cream. I would definitely dine in again.

Place was pumping when we arrived so a great atmosphere. A rude and slow moving waitress greeted us and that theme continued. After some time I approached the counter to order but I got the eye with sneer and told she would come and take my order. Matcha Latte was good but a bit cool. Food took about 55 mins from our arrival and a number of people were served and a couple actually left before ours arrived. Prior to this when I approached the counter the sneering one wanted to argue and a very energetic but angry dismissive man intervened and offered for us to leave. Food arrived. Empanta was deep fried corn style thick and a bit oily and beef filling was potato with micro beef bits, dipping sauce was good but I asked for extra. So Ok. Huevos eggs were ok. Flavour fine, cooked ok but sauce was watery so the tomato reduction was done too quickly. So Ok. In balance not great and will not be back. Why would I.
