I've never had "authentic Italian pizza" before but I do know what taste good to me. For starters the taste of the pizza dough is lacking, I believe this comes from a short proofing time not allowing for flavours to fully develop in the dough.
The Margherita is seriously lacking basil (it's non existent) and I understand they have a Margherita D.O.P which isn't much better. Without basil a Margherita pizza is nothing more than a cheese pizza.
I am unsure of why this place is rated so high, clearly people like it. In saying thay people also like Dominos.
Would I go back: Possibly Final thoughts: I believe this place has all the right tools and ingredients to make some truly good pizza, but for now I'd rather try new places then...

I have an intolerance to gluten, but a lot of gluten free bases just don’t taste right so when I order pizza, I sometimes just buy regular pizzas to save cost as I’d rather not pay extra to eat something I don’t enjoy despite it destroying my stomach. Pizzalunga da Carlo’s bases however are exactly like the real thing! I love them! Thank you for making delicious (maybe even the best) gluten free pizzas! (And although I really shouldn’t have them as they are not GF, their focaccia is to die for.) One day, I’ll be sure to dine in and try their pizza fresh...
Read moreI can't call myself a regular, but have been there enough to say that it's an excellent place to have a pizza "the Italian way". Great toppings and option, with a good choice of entrees and an excellent tiramisù for dessert. Definitely recommended. My personal favourite is the Salsiccia & Friarielli pizza.
After several years, it is still a great pizza place that focuses on what matters: Taste, great ingredients, quality, and generous portions. Still love their pizzas, and really appreciate their new Italian drinks (chinotto, aranciata, but not mainstream brands)...
