We used to go when it was Sushi Edo, it no longer has the same staff or food, even though the menu is mostly the same the food or atmosphere definitely isn't. There was 1 guy looking after the restaurant on Saturday night and was literally running everywhere, it killed any atmosphere because he was under so much pressure. Previously the food was hot, our food even though just made still wasn't hot, it was missing sauce & mayo on dishes that normally have the right ratio. There was only 2 staff cooking in the centre. Albeit there is no claim to be Japanese food, it no longer has a Japanese flair and whilst I didn't ask the nationality of the one guy who was serving he struggled to pronounce the dish. I think the reviews about being cleaner must be fake as it certainly wasn't cleaner in our experience, and the guy serving us running around lost some of our food on the tray and wanted to me to pick it up and put it on my plate.... I asked for a replacement! If you used to go when it was sushi Edo save yourself the disappointment and go elsewhere. If you're not comparing it to Sushi edo then I guess it's ok sushi if you don't...
Read moreWe ordered the Wagyu beef with teriyaki sauce and the chicken karaage udon. My wife enjoyed the udon; however, I found the Wagyu beef somewhat disappointing. Although it was tender, A few pieces were particularly unpleasant to chew, to the point that I had to return it to the plate. The dish was presented beautifully on a sizzling hot plate, which added a dramatic and appealing touch. I would recommend a more meticulous preparation of the beef—thoroughly trimming away excess fat and any chewy or unpalatable parts—so that only clean, high-quality cuts are served. The pricing was reasonable. However, the ordering tablet placed at the table requires improvement. Currently, once an item is selected, it is immediately sent to the kitchen for preparation, which prevents diners from reviewing or finalizing their selections as a group. I strongly suggest redesigning the system to follow a "cart then order" model, allowing customers to review and confirm the entire order before submission. This would greatly enhance the overall...
Read moreMy fiancé and I have been coming here ever since the store renamed and reopened. It is fantastic.
The staff are prompt, friendly, and the atmosphere is always inviting and warm. Even with the temporary air-conditioning, the venue is always extremely clean and at a good temperature.
The food always comes hot when ordered, and the sushi train itself is neat with fresh food. The time to receive your ordered food is also always prompt, rarely more than a few minutes.
It’s a clean, well-mannered and professional restaurant, and I’d recommend it for individuals, couples and families alike. The menu is full and complete, with a variety of options. The gluten free options could use an extension, as other competitors offer gluten free salt and pepper squid, for example. At Garden City, Sushi Edo offers a wide range of gf side crumbed dishes not available here.
Still, Sushi Honke worth your...
