Spectacular Spring Omakase 2024. Komeyui offered all I could hope for in a degustation experience, showcasing delicious seafood. Every aspect of design and presentation is immaculate, hosts were wonderful and the chef before me, Satoshi, offered the perfect balance of storytelling and charisma !
Plum Blossoms: Generous ikura portion atop a gorgeous oyster, with a fruity quince-like jelly. Such a delightful bump of decadence to start. Dandelion: the crunchy crisp and silky textures dance together for a bite of pure bliss and was the exclamation point of all appetisers. Magnolia: This visually striking dish is love at first sight - a spectral sweetheart. There was a beautiful marine quality to the shiitake and who doesn’t love a creamy Hokkaido scallop? Many of these dishes traverse the seasons: bidding farewell to winter and welcoming the burgeoning light of spring. Wisteria was a symphony of flavours in the best way I could not tell you what I was tasting because, while there was a sense of familiarity, it was just brand new. Smoother than butter, the petals just melt. I’ve never liked smoky eggplant more than in this dish. Every spoonful left me wanting more. Chef Satoshi said he found the Pink Snapper particularly special and I agree it really is. Simple, elegant, perfect cuts of fish, paired with a zesty white ponzu so fragrant I still wish I finished every last drop. Yum. Satoshi also found the perfect segue to showcase the Sakura salt, it was such a seamless way to personalise the Omakase, it feels like being invited into the mysteries behind the veil. Tulip: This octopus was truly so exciting. This might just be the best octopus dish I’ve ever eaten, I can’t believe how perfect it was !The flavours accompanying it were bold and exciting, fresh and zingy, creamy and smoky. The miso with bell pepper was absolutely a revelation and the octopus was cooked to perfection. I began to miss the dish once I’d reached my last bite. Jingisukan: Lamb chops are a classic and when cooked right, it is truly delightful. They made the lamb absolutely sing. It was the heartiest presence among the other intricate delicacies. I was so excited for the Premium Nigiri Selection. With each flourish, Satoshi fine tuned the nigiri. In such a choreographic motion, symphonic as a maestro, he humbly offered me an orchestra of flavour, texture and colours. It was excellent to observe and admire someone confidently and proudly offer rich ephemeral artistry with such finesse. Sakura Yoghurt Ice had subtle floral flavours and was a refreshing, understated palate cleanser that left me feeling lighter.
I can’t pick a favourite course, each was exciting and innovative. I thank everyone who contributed to the night. The hostesses were so friendly - such courteous & sincere interaction. I’m so thankful that Komeyui exceeded expectations. There is so much humility in preparing food before those who will eat it. I’m honoured to have experienced such an honest, theatrical and opulent menu - even the tableware it was presented alongside was precious.
Komeyui team have created a divine and faultless experience - achieving a rare equilibrium to which very few dining...
Read moreFrom the moment my wife and I walked in, we were impressed by how beautifully maintained, spotless, and thoughtfully arranged the space was. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, making us feel welcome right away.
The staff were not only incredibly friendly and attentive, but they also displayed a level of professionalism and warmth that made the evening truly special. Their knowledge of each dish, ingredient, and culinary technique was exceptional, and they took the time to share these details with us in a way that was both engaging and easy to appreciate. It’s rare to meet a team so genuinely passionate about what they do.
Every course was a work of art—expertly prepared, perfectly balanced in flavor, and presented with impeccable precision. We had mentioned that my wife doesn’t like onions at all, and they went above and beyond to adjust the menu, substituting with other fresh, complementary ingredients without compromising the quality, balance, or creativity of the dishes. That kind of thoughtfulness is a mark of true culinary craftsmanship.
One of the highlights for me was watching them use the applewood-burning method to enhance a dish. I mentioned that I’d love to try that same technique with a whisky, and without hesitation, they prepared it for me. The result was nothing short of amazing—deep, smoky, and aromatic, elevating the drink to a whole new level.
The chefs didn’t just serve us dinner; they guided us through a culinary journey, chatting with us throughout the night and making the entire experience feel personal and memorable. It’s clear this restaurant takes pride in every detail, from the immaculate presentation to the warm human touch. This was more than just a meal—it was an evening we’ll treasure, and one I can’t recommend highly enough.
They gave us a complimentary dessert for my wife as we were there to celebrate her belated birthday. We will...
