The menu was misleading and the service was disappointing.
Visited the restaurant because my partner and I were curious to try a new (hopefully authentic) sushi restaurant in Brisbane. I walked in and soon realised that the restaurant was run by Korean staffs. Ok, I thought, I'll take it as a Korean-Japanese restaurant. That's fine.
My partner first ordered a salmon chirashi. The dish came out more like a salmon sashimi-don rather than a chirashi-don. Chirashi-don is supposed to have thick rectangular/square chunks of seafood instead of thin slices of sashimi on the rice. You can Google images to see the difference between chirashi-don and sashimi-don.
I ordered a beef yakiudon. The photo on the menu had lots of beef on top of the yakiudon - all for the price of $14. What a value for money, I thought. After a while, the dish came, but not with the same glamour like the one on the menu. There were only a few pieces of beef on the udon. It was very disappointing.
I also ordered a salmon & scallop nigiri. The menu photo showed a salmon nigiri topped with scallop and a few salmon roe. However, what came out was a salmon nigiri with scallop and spring onion - there was no salmon roe. I asked one of the chefs at the sushi bar (since we were sitting at the sushi counter) but she seemed to not understand what we were saying. Other chefs at the sushi bar also came to see what was going on, but no one seemed to understand the issue. Finally, a waitress came to ask about the issue. I reiterated the issue, and she furrowed her brows and seemed to not understand what I was saying (or possibly, she couldn't hear what I was saying because of how they were blasting loud music in the background). I again repeated the problem, and she finally understood - she briefly talked to the chefs in Korean (which I didn't understand) and responded to me saying they simply don't offer salmon roe. Obviously I was not satisfied with the answer, and the waitress added, which sounded more like a made-up answer, that the salmon roe was sold out. There was no apology, and I was just left with two conflicting explanations for why the salmon roe was not present in the dish.
I expected more from this sushi restaurant, but it was just a disappointing experience overall. I have to say the restaurant was clean and the seafood was fresh. I could see how nice the restaurant would be if not for the misleading photos and rather disheartening service. Please make sure that the menu photos and names are accurate and staffs are...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreCaution: count your plates of sushi and check for additional hidden costs if dining here! Been a regular here before change in ownership, decided to give it a go today (thurs night) and was shocked by the unethical and deceptive charges. They added an extra plate charge and sneakily added additional hidden charges of $7.80 to the bill. (It is a small amount but imagine sneakily charging every trusting client extras) When confirming the number of plates, the cashier was adamant she was right. Upon realising the error she wasnāt apologetic which is strange. Gave the vibes of a seasoned swindler. And when questioned about the hidden charge twice she evaded my question. Only on the third time did she come up with an excuse that I was charged another tableās bill (which is strange as she has confirmed our table number twice and she walked there to count the plates) The only comforting thing was the original 3 chefs are there so the overall quality is somewhat maintained but the freshness of the nigiri has deteriorated and the sushi rice falls apart and the fried food comes out slightly black. The true happy vibes of the chefs are no longer there probably due to the presence of the new owner. Hopefully things will change...
