Thai DD Restaurant — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I am huge fan of Thailand food and this new Thailand restaurant leads me to this place. I went to this place around 2pm on the weekend. Restaurant looked luxurious and fancy. It looked like fine dining. I ordered Green curry and Pad Thai with prawn. Compare to other Thailand restaurant, its price is quite high. However my expectation might be too high. Green curry does not have rich flavor but too weak and not enough taste. Chicken was too smelly(why they didn’t prepare base job?! Removing odor is base of base, I guess) I am quite a sensitive person, so I thought only I can smell it but my partner also felt it. Pad thai was too sticky and taste was just average(I am glad they put 5 shrimps).

Despite of restaurant’s atmosphere and looks, its taste was really under average. Besides price is overpriced. Even though waitress was kind but I may NOT visit again. Card surcharge 1.7% applies.

I am glad they do not use plastic plates but all of them are porcelain plate( and tap water)

Don't waste your time here if you're looking for authentic Thai food. Here was what we ordered plus my honest review as a chef who used to live in Thailand for 15+ years: Tom Yum noodle soup: Noodles were overcooked. Doesn't taste like Tom Yum at all. I could tell that they have 1 soup base for all noodle soups and just sprinkled some dried shrimps, added lime to taste as similar to Tom Yum. Slow cooked pork hock: The soup was cold and a bit bland. Hainanese crispy chicken rice: The rice was plain steamed rice with ginger on top and the serving was little for an $18.90 dish. Fish cake: The only food I enjoyed because it was served hot even though it was store bought which I didn't mind at all. Thai milk tea: The tea was overpowering. Had to a bit more water to balance...

I have had dinner at Thai DD a couple months ago and was satisfied with everything. However yesterday I order a takeway order of Pad See Ew, and was horrified by what I received. An top of that I had to wait around 40-50 minutes around 12:00 because they were catering to a large order. This sadly meant that my order was last in priority and ended up tasting awful. The beef didn't even looked seared but looking borderline boiled. The noodles didn't hold their shape and instead was very brittle. To top it off the dish was missing colour as it was missing alot of colour and the signature 'Wok Hei' or wok flavour. I hope this is a one time occurence from their large order but I feel like I wasn't valued as a customer that day. Staff were very nice...
