Where do I even start, I went to the Junk-tion hotel on Thursday night and was absolutely appalled with the service I received. When my chicken parmi arrived, I discovered a dirty receipt underneath the food, completely unsanitary and unacceptable. When I raised this with the manager, Mitchell/Ryan, his handling of the situation was shockingly unprofessional. His solution was to offer me a replacement parmi and a “free lunch,” which I declined, as I made it clear I would never be returning. I asked for a refund, and despite paying $37, he initially returned only $20 in cash, claiming the meal was “under a deal.” After going back and forth, he reluctantly agreed to $30, slammed the money on the table, and dismissively called me “boss.” To make matters worse, I waited over an hour for the replacement parmi, which NEVER even arrived. Ryan later claimed there was a “docket issue” and promised a replacement jug ,which also never came….. Throughout the night, he continued addressing me in a condescending manner, repeatedly calling me “boss.” At the end of the evening, he ignored our table completely, walking past us with his head in his phone. A staff member later admitted he had radioed them not to bring the jug. Finding a receipt in my meal was bad enough, but mitchell/ryan behaviour was by far the worst part of the night, an example of how not to handle a customer issue in hospitality. I will be taking this matter further.

We bought the $9.95 Roast lunch. We have been trying out the different McGuires hotels with this deal & this place was the worst. We would not return for the food. The Manager was cutting the meat, instead of one of the chefs. The guy had no idea how to cut the meat & gave us 3 small pieces, plus the roast was a bit dry. When we complained to the bar staff, the girl said that the chef had told him he was cutting it wrong, but there was no apology or the offer of some more slices. As we walked out, another couple had got the same & the Manager cut it the same way & same number of pieces, so he seemed a bit arrogant. This was on Sunday 13th April lunchtime. The place is good for a drink after the renovations. We were surprised how good the atmosphere & Decor is now. Mind you, the younger staff need more training. We asked for the Roast lunch deal with a drink & they had no idea what we were talking about. Lucky the senior staff knew & stepped in. We checked out the menu & thought the steak dishes were a bit expensive for a pub in Annerley. We would rather go down the road to the Norman. We thought if the roast was dry, we wouldn't take a chance on a $50 Steak. So far the $9.95 lunches are better at Alex, Comslie & Marsden. I have added a photo of the size of the meat, which we both got just 3 small pieces each.

I ordered the pork ribs with corn and coleslaw, I asked for chips instead of slaw, no problems there, the corn, chips and sauce on the ribs were beautiful but I was very clearly given spoilt meat, it had a foul fishy taste, and a weird texture, the staff were super polite and said the chef would replace the meal with something else on the menu, I very cautiously asked for a steak (all were more expensive but there wasn't anything else I wanted), the chef said no, they said they could do something else or a refund, I got the refund, as I finished my soft drink off I noticed the bottom of the bottle had syrup and checked the date, the drink was also out of date! I had 2 other minor issues with this place with their steaks not being cooked right, either under or over by a lot but it wasn't worth complaining, I mainly made the review as the staff implied that it wasn't spoilt

Really disappointed tonight from a pub we liked that had been pretty good in the past. Went here on a Sunday night about 7:00pm. Ordered a couple of drinks then ordered dinner. Cheesy garlic bread, Arancini & a seafood basket (I’d normally steer clear of a seafood basket but the onion rings & homemade potato scallops gave me faith, so I thought maybe it’ll be good) The seafood basket was below servo standards, it had two tiny pieces of frozen battered fish, think fish fingers at best, 2 calamari rings with the crumbs falling off, one seafood bite which I am assuming was meant to be a sea scallop? Two tiny little battered sections of a seafood stick, we’re taking thumbnail size, two onion rings about the size of a 50c piece and as couple of really small prawn cutlets oh and the homemade potato scallops resembled a battered roast potato puck plus a few chips. All of it was super stodgy and only slightly resembled seafood. Just really really bad. The Arancini were plated nicely but were inedible, just 4 crumbed balls of brown paste. Who is your supplier, I would dump them straight away as this product is simply crap. The garlic bread was good though. So two drinks and dinner was $77. I returned the majority of the seafood basket and the two remaining Arancini to the bar where we ordered and asked the waitress to please let the kitchen know that the food was amongst the worst I had ever had and that it was just frozen & stodgy and that $30 for that seafood basket was absolutely unacceptable. The waitress simply said sorry and took my plates to the kitchen. No manger, no refund, nothing. The chef should be embarrassed to send food like that out, it’s simple laziness, have some pride and some self respect for what you do, and who’s the Executive Chef for McGuires creating this menu where this crap goes out? Try your food and don’t put food over the pass that’s not up to scratch, and the manager needs a tune up too, be aware of what the kitchen is putting out, check it, taste it, it’s your...

What has happened to this place? A year ago it seemed like a great place, all the staff were happy, the food was amazing and it had a good atmosphere. Slowly watched it deteriorate into what it has become now and sad to say I shall never return. Sat down with some friends. Ordered food and drinks. Not only did 2 of us order before the other 2 but their meals came out before ours and had finished theirs before I had get up to go ask what the hold up was. Oh your docket is next we were told. An hour waiting for a parmi and calamari. Clearly been forgotten about. Food was dry as a bone, zero flavour. Then to top it off the “manager” came over ranting about parking spots. We heard you the first time and to come to a table, interrupt meals and conversations, to repeat yourself three times after we told you we would move the car and to follow us out to the car park and repeat yourself yet again after being told we were moving. Put some signs up in your car park. Every single time we have been there, there’s been cars parked in the middle. You could have handled that in a million different ways than you did. Even the guy outside was looking at you strange as if it was your car and someone had reversed into you or something drastic. Rude, zero people skills, attitude problem and now we know why ALL your staff looked miserable as hell! If I had to deal with you as a manager I’d be handing it my resignation asap. You left quite a sour taste in all our mouths lastnight and 100% will never be coming back. Another great venue ruined by the big corporations who have no interest in hospitality so you hire any halfwit to run your business. Good luck with your ever increasing drink prices and your food quality rapidly going...

Genuine review as a waiter at the establishment for over two years.. The food was always edged to us as a "mistake" there was always something wrong with it. Whether that be it was cold, wrong ingredients, or a super small amount of ingredients. The kitchen staff were always amazing and would happily fix anything wrong with it, so I would haven't guess that this is a problem on the management staff wanting to save a few dollars here and there.

Second, I believe the service from the staff was one of the best I've been to around, whether it was to me (staff member) or to customers, everyone was always incredibly inviting and welcoming to specific drink preferences and just personality in general. I really appreciate the people I worked with, genuinely the best people I have worked with in hospitality. Management on the other hand was a 50\50z Alana and Darcy and were always good, but the other couple of managers that were on duty was a bit sketchy...

Thirdly, atmosphere was horrendous. I attended the establishment for a simple "Wongs Night" and all I was greeted with from a specific waitress (who by the way is sleeping with the venue manger) was anger and hatred. I understand that someone may be treated in disregard while they are on the same level, but as a customer with my friends for their birthday, it was super unacceptable and really just a sad sight.

Other than that I would personally rate the junction overall a 3/10, I got banned from enetering the establish because I quit...
