Saint Maries — Restaurant in Brunswick Heads

We were a walk in for dinner and seating was easy for 2. Ordered a pizza, salad and drinks and the pizza came out way earlier than the salad. Weird to eat salad after a pizza, but not a huge deal. Placed an order for additional drinks after our food with a waitress(had some difficulty communicating with her-I have partial hearing loss) and confirmed with our waiter a bit later, but then sat around for 20 minutes before asking our waiter for an update. They were busy and I didn’t want to bother him too much. He had no idea we were ordered an additional round-??? Finally got our last round and while our orders were the same type of drink for both of us, but they were obviously different drinks. The vibe reminds me of places in the States and staff was not friendly-like a hipster mediocre pizza place in Brooklyn/SF, not a beach town...

On approach this venue had the usual vibes of a Northern NSW establishment - retro furniture and eclectic accessories. As we sat down and with closer inspection the decor soon turned from cool vintage to old and falling apart. The vinyl on the built in booth seating was so ripped it was scratching our legs. There was a piece of timber head height that was attached to the booth seat that I kept hitting my head on. We were excited about the home made bread with brown butter however the bread came out cold and the brown butter was so sweet I think the chef had actually put brown sugar in it as opposed to the proper method of just taking the butter on its own past a certain point on the heat until it goes brown. My sister was disappointed with her pizza - I enjoyed mine. My advice - order take away (pizzas only) and...

Really delicious pizzas every time that we dine here ~ just a shame about the service...some of the wait staff seem quite annoyed about being at work and are not warm or attentive at all, a shame as the pizza is yum. Last time that we went, I booked online and when we got there, they had no booking, I showed the email that I had on my end and the waiter mumbled something saying that they now do not use the online booking system?!. The same waiter forgot about our sparkling water and we had to ask for it again later on into the meal. We ordered 3 pizzas and my one was gluten free, my pizza came a good 10 minutes after the other pizzas arrived at the table. It wasn't overly busy either. Possibly better idea to take away as then you don't have to deal with hipster staff that are annoyed with you for coming to...
