Trouble San in Brunswick Heads is a culinary delight where traditional Japanese cuisine meets innovative culinary techniques to create a truly extraordinary fusion experience.

Every dish at Trouble San reflects a thoughtful balance between the subtlety of traditional Japanese flavours and the adventurous spirit of fusion cuisine. Whether it's the melt-in-your-mouth sashimi or the innovative takes on yakitori, each bite offers a burst of flavours that are at once familiar and excitingly new.

While the portion sizes could be a tad larger considering the price, the quality of the food and the inventive culinary approach make it worth the investment. Each dish is a testament to the chef's creativity and expertise, offering an unparalleled dining experience.

The service at Trouble San is just as impressive as the food. The staff is courteous, efficient, and always sporting a friendly smile, making you feel welcome from the moment you step in.

The atmosphere at Trouble San is a harmonious blend of modern elegance and traditional Japanese aesthetics, providing a relaxing and comfortable dining environment. The décor and ambiance perfectly complement the fusion theme, making each visit a truly immersive culinary journey.

Trouble San deserves a high recommendation for its brilliant execution of Japanese fusion cuisine. Despite the slightly modest portion sizes for the price, the remarkable quality of food, exceptional service, and inviting atmosphere secure a well-earned 4.5 out of 5 stars. This spot is a must-visit for those seeking an innovative and tantalizing twist on traditional...

The restaurant itself looks amazing. It's a Japanese inspired restaurant. Was so excited to try. Our booking was for 6pm. We arrived 10 minutes early to a line up and the restaurant was pumping. Whilst in line a couple quickly left the restaurant running down pathway. We thought they did a runner. Finally seated outside which was very cold and people in front of us didn't have a booking but we're seated inside 🙄. After being seated we waited 20 minutes (after asking someone twice) before our drinks order was taken. We also decided to order our meals at this time due to the slow service. Fifteen minutes later our sides for our main meal arrived. No drinks. We had no choice but to eat it then as it was going cold. We again asked a waitress where our drinks were? Next our sashimi (starter) arrived. It was delicious. Still no drinks. Our drinks finally arrived before our Wagyu. Now this was disappointing. $60 for 200g. Price is comparable but the quality was questionable. Eating Japanese style and you leave the tendon. We had no knife to cut it out so we're left trying to chew through it. Overall, disappointing and the people behind us left saying the service was terrible and canceled their orders. My take is they were too busy seating people who didn't have reservations than serving the already seated...

Overall not a bad experience but not what I was expecting, especially for the price. Would I go back? No. Would I recommend it? Hmmm. For me, the decision to go there was influenced by the location (within walking distance to my accommodation) & the promise of a $15 curry. The decor is a vibe, the service friendly & professional. The drinks are pretty & competitively priced. The food... We went on a Monday night. Not overly busy (booking not necessary but on a Friday or Saturday - book) & they do a $15 Japanese curry night (vegetarian, extra $5 to add chicken, which was tender & tasty). Edamame - coated in chilli butter & so yum. The curry - not bad. Very pretty presentation. Would like a little more sauce & non-soggy rice. The barramundi - defs a crispy skin, fresh, cooked well. The pickled mushrooms were goood. However, the "edamame puree" was teeming with coriander which ended up overpowering the rest of the dish & not in a good way. $120 for 2 people. For the food & drinks pictured. There are other restaurants, and other Japanese restaurants, within a 15-20 minute drive with food and prices that leave a better taste in my mouth, a more satisfied tum, and less of a hole in...
