Betty's Burgers — Restaurant in Byron Bay

The Burgers are great! The staff are all very kind, however they need more training. My experience there was a bit confusing. We placed an order for pick up, when I arrived to pick it up, the staff seemed confused to find my order in the system. We then found out it was under the wrong name. Once I paid for it at the counter, I was told to go pick up my order at the pick up spot, however there was no communication between the staff to try and check with the kitchen staff if my order was ready. I stood there for a couple of minutes while the kitchen staff saw me standing there but ignored me (not much on purpose, they probably thought I was waiting for one of the burgers he was still preparing - but doesn’t hurt to ask). I then saw this little bag sitting at the back of the kitchen, read the name on it, and realized it was mine. So I called the guy and told him that that might be my order, which he then gave it to me. All good so far, these things happen, people get busy and the staff are probably new and still learning. However it was very disappointing getting home and realizing my order was wrong. It’s a great burger place, but I recommend that the management give the staff a little more training to avoid these minor, but annoying issues...

Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Do not go here if you have allergies.

They messed up both orders, told me something didn’t have egg in it when it did (which they served to me and I promptly had an allergic reaction), took out ingredients from the burger which I didn’t say I was allergic to, said that certain items had egg in it when it did not (told me their beef patties have egg in them?), and the manager and chef had differing opinions on what was served to me.

After having an allergic reaction from their thick shakes which they said had no egg in it, I went back with my order and it further showed that the chefs don’t understand the food they are serving. The chef told me they gave me a vegan patty (but the manager believed it was a beef patty…) and removed the cheese from the burger when the only thing I was allergic to was the sauce.

That being said the manager was very understanding. He made sure I was okay and gave me a refund on my order. That was the only thing not terrible with my experience.

Update. Found out they dump unused buns in big plastic bags destined for landfill. Its going viral in Byron where there are systems to give food to the needy as well as green bins the council collects. Another star gone... Great fast food option in Byron. Yummy thick shakes, good burger selection, fast, friendly staff & nice decor. Love their serving containers are mostly compostable including the straws. The choc peanut thick shake flavour was amazing as was the cheesecake custard dessert. Down sides are the food is extremely unhealthy. Even the vegan mushroom burger is a crusty deep fried mostly white carbs affair. The shakes & desserts are super sweet. They could use real cutlery and crockery to serve.
