Food poisoning. Or more specifically, Scombroid Poisoning caused by improperly prepared and kept tuna. It’s actually a result of rotting tuna with bacteria turning the histadine that naturally occurs in these fish into histamine. We should have listened to the woman who walked up to us and said bluntly “this was the worst food I’ve ever eaten” while we were reading the menus out front. We thought she was being sarcastic, until we headed inside and she was telling the staff all about how bad their food was. We thought “she must be crazy right?”, all the tables had people enjoying their meals and the guys running the place seemed nice, so we ordered the tuna poke bowls (pictured). Honestly they looked and tasted great, very similar to what you’d get in Hawaii, maybe even tastier with the added dried onion flakes. However, 60 minutes later is when things turn nasty, long after you’ve left. It starts with churning stomach growls, then a mad dash to the bathroom, followed by many more, then hives, dizziness, headache, you get the picture. A planned night out in Byron ends up in a foetal position on the floor trying to stomach water while dosing up on antihistamines. Honestly now wished we’d listened to the woman who tried to warn us. Avoid the tuna in the least, Finn Poke are not refrigerating it correctly, or in the least are sourcing it from suppliers who don’t know how to store tuna correctly. In summary: tastes good, looks good, but it’ll probably make you sick if you...

Waited over 30 minutes for my poke bowl. My friend was already almost finished with his bowl - I requested to cancel mine as I no longer had an appetite but the lady said they couldn’t cancel it.

I ordered through the QR code displayed on the menu at the store, which said “scan to order”, assuming it’ll let me skip the queue. After 20 minutes of waiting, I saw plenty of people receive their orders before mine despite ordering after. I notified the staff and she said it was almost done. I informed her I’ll be sitting at the table right in front of the counter and she said ok. Another 10 minutes pass and I’m ready to leave but was told they cannot cancel the order.

I ate my meal there while my friend waited for me. I couldn’t even enjoy it after having waited so long. Very poor experience. I would not recommend Finn Poke to anyone, especially if you are there on holiday and...

Had the teri-yummy chicken bowl. It was a great meal for the price, the ingredients were super fresh and prepared to perfection, the portion sizes are very good for the pricing. I was served by both Jessica and rika and both of them have amazing customer service and have an amazing energy that will make anyone's day better. Big thumbs up and respect to the team at Finn poke in byron bay

FINN POKE is a must visit when in Byron. A place that serves fresh, delicious salads made on site. A family business that support local produces is a win from us. I opted for making my own poke bowl while hubby ordered the sword bowl. An extra treat was the watermelon juice, so refreshing after a big morning walk. Lovely staff, especially Nick who was a pleasure to deal with.
