Disappointing Experience
I decided to try this place based on the hotel’s name and the positive reviews, but unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations.
The portion sizes were very small(even my 5-year-old daughter found the puris insufficient). Even the quality was the lowest I have experienced in Perth. Though we are light eaters, we ordered several items and still left feeling hungry, which speaks volumes about the quantity and satisfaction level.
Masala Tea- Disappointing. It was made with an instant mix, which wasn’t even dissolved properly. The mix settled at the bottom of the cup, clearly indicating it was stirred directly in the serving cup. I don’t expect to be served instant tea at a restaurant.
Puri: Only two tiny puris were served. This was barely enough for a small child, let alone an adult.
Sambar Vada: The sambar lacked flavor and the vadas were cold.
Podi Uthappam: Small portion(definitely does not look like uthappam) and podi does not have flavour at all.
Masala Dosa: The dosa itself was decent, but the red chutney is bland.
Masala Vada: Just about okay, nothing noteworthy.
If anyone is to try an authentic South Indian breakfast, I would recommend visiting the Bala Murugan Temple to understand what true, flavorful, and satisfying food at low price should taste like.
Sadly, this visit was a letdown and not...
Read moreRead alot of the other reviews on the restaurant and was wondering if that's how it really was. If you're a South Indian, just entering the restaurant would give you a good whiff of sambhar which means you'll feel like you've very much been transported back home. Nostalgia We ordered plain Dosa, masala Dosa, vada, parotta, paneer butter masala and kesari- all the South Indian food was great - authentic feels. The paneer butter masala was absolutely terrible I'm sorry to say. The sambhar was good, chutneys were decent. Dosas were super crispy, parottas were ah-mazing and you get served fresh hot food. Regarding the old aunty at the reception counter- give her a break, she's just being herself. Honestly she's quite sweet if you strike up a conversation with her. It's a restaurant run by just 3 people who cook, clean, pack takeaways and manage customers, so I guess we should cut them some slack. Hygiene levels seem quite questionable though. Well, if you're used to having eaten streetside food in India, this would be of no concern 🤣 Food is super economical - you just have to be patient till you're able to get your order in and wait for it to come to you. PS: we went on a Thursday night and the place was...
Read moreInitially we quite liked it because the food quality was better than what they offer now. Below is my review Positive: Their Vadai, Idli, Dosa and Utthapa are good only for take aways
Negative: I just cant stop writing but here they are Sambar tastes blant and doesn't actually go with their name "Udipi". Anyone who hails from Udipi will not go here again after having it first time. Their coconut chutney is not made of fresh coconut. They use cheap dry coconut that doesn't taste great. Need to give a second thought to dine in because of hygiene levels they maintain. Ordered a coffee once and the elderly man who took the order got the coffee with his fingers partially dipped in. Had to then throw away the coffee. Lastly, all the workers attitude or I must say the level of arrogance is just too much. This is my(and few other friends) personal experience. They lack courteousness, patience, customer service.
They are surviving as there is no other option for south indian food around. They should pull up their socks and improve a lot to meet...
