So excited about this place I feel like we planned part of the trip around this place. So popular with all the tourists and I’m sure locals.
We arrived for lunch with appetite to match.
Be sure to have a table number before ordering. We ordered between 2 of us - Medium whole lobster with garlic butter. Abalone. 1/2 dozen fresh oysters Pint of stone and wood.
Similar to most other businesses up the coast. They employ a large number of foreign tourists/backpackers to help run the business. Has good and bad points. I ordered natural oysters and somehow paid for and confirmed kilpatrik. This was quickly rectified after a short wait.
I found it very hard to find out what oysters were being offered. 4 x people later it was clarified pacific oysters. I suppose this is a lobster shack and no one really cares as much about these guys. The oysters weren’t nice and I’m happy we only ordered 1/2 dozen. Kilpatrik may have been the better option.
The abalone were amazing. These have to be cooked right or can be terribly chewie. So nice and so full of flavour. Got top marks on this.
The lobster. Though we ordered a full lobster, only half turned up at the table. This was rectified and the balance soon arrived. The garlic butter was a match made in heaven and we both agreed this was one of the best lobsters we have ever eaten. So fresh and perfectly cooked.
Cool fish tank inside and a nice bar. Washed the above down with a stone and wood pacific ale pint. !! 👌
NOTE to foreigners. Take your leftovers from the table. The seagulls will otherwise do this for Troy which isn’t a pleasant experience for others after you have left.
A quick pass of the gift shop admiring the frozen cooked and uncooked lobsters on offer. So tempting though we don’t have the means to store on our journey.
We managed to get in and out and avoid the tour buses that are generally seated in the front part of the facility leaving the more public and scenic water front available.
You can do a tour of the factory but we decided against it. There wasn’t space anyway given 3 x tour buses...
Read moreDuring my second visit to the Lobster Shack in Perth as part of a day tour, I had the opportunity to explore its history, introductory session, and factory, which added an interesting dimension to the overall experience.
The lobster meal at Lobster Shack comes at an estimated price of $30+ and is well worth it. The lobsters served here are incredibly fresh, delivering a delightful taste that truly captures the essence of the sea.
It's important to note that the restaurant's chili offering is not the ordinary type but rather Tabasco sauce, which might be a point of bias for some individuals. Nevertheless, the grilled lobsters are expertly prepared and boast delicious flavors. However, the portion size is a tad smaller compared to other seafood restaurants in Western Australia, which could leave some diners wishing for a heartier serving.
One aspect that could enhance the dining experience at Lobster Shack is the availability of different marinades for the grilled lobsters. This would cater to the diverse palates of customers from various continents, providing more options to suit different taste preferences.
It's worth mentioning that Lobster Shack primarily caters to tourists. While the restaurant offers a satisfactory lobster experience, local Australians might find better pricing and more value for money at other seafood establishments in the area, given their familiarity with the local dining scene.
On a positive note, the service at Lobster Shack is polite, helpful, and friendly. The staff members contribute to a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring a comfortable dining experience for visitors.
It's important to note that my experience at Lobster Shack was part of the included lunch package of a 4WD tour at the Pinnacles. As a whole, Lobster Shack offers fresh lobster delights and friendly service, making it a suitable choice for tourists looking to enjoy a flavorful seafood meal amidst...
Read moreI rang a week in advance to book in for a large group of 25 and rang a few days prior to our booking and was assured it was booked. We arrived for lunch on the day of our booking and was very rudely told that there was no booking under that name or for that large group. I double checked and said that I had rang to make a reservation as we are a large group and was assured my booking was there. I was then told by the manager Jess that there wasn't a booking and she could not help us as she doesn't know who took the booking. We asked again nicely if they could accommodate us as we had elderly parents and kids with us waiting for a seat, to which she responded that they are booked and they can't accommodate our group but we could look for any table to sit at. Mind you, it was 12.30pm on a long weekend, and there were no tables other than 2 x 4 seaters in the sun. This would not fit our group. After some banter and showing her the call logs she said she will look into the matter. After about 10-15 mins, one of the staff (Charlie) was extremely helpful and offered to clear up the tables that were just vacated by a tour group for us. We were very appreciative. When ordering our food, the manager told one of my friends that they would offer us free drinks to make up for the mix up. This gesture was appreciated - a positive to ending to a very frustrating start to our visit to the Lobster Shack. Food was good l - the octopus salad was amazing! Please double check your bookings! Have also suggested they opt for an automated booking system via...
