Mediocre food with few options (fish n chips or burgers, basically) on a patio overlooking the sea is fine but not great.
Unfortunately, the service was pretty poor.
It’s not clear who the right staff are, because there are staff running two tourist booths in the same store. Two staff members clearly saw me waiting to order, but ignored me. They seemed to be in charge of those other booths, so didn’t serve me. But, also - no smile, no greeting, and certainly no attempt to let any other staff know I was waiting.
After a couple of minutes, someone in the back kitchen seemed to notice me and did the same. After a couple more minutes, I was served by a fourth person who seemed unhappy about something unrelated. Slow to serve me, no smile at first, and the first real thing she said was that an order for 6 would involve a long wait.
The expected delay was surprising, because there were only about 4 or 5 tables of people in a cafe with about 15-20 tables. But, we were happy to wait. By the time I’d finished ordering, that staff member did smile once and apologised for the likely wait.
The wait was even longer than expected. And, then everything was self-serve: pick up the food yourself; get the cutlery yourself; etc. i.e. There are no waiters. Occasionally, we saw staff bring people’s coffee out, but most of the time people had to get that themselves, too.
Later, we ordered coffee. Two much younger staff (one a child) were there then, and were friendly, polite, and quick to serve me.
The price wasn’t expensive, but nor was it cheap. So, with the sometimes unfriendly staff, slow meal prep, no wait staff, limited options, and mediocre food it’s not a place I’d recommend even though the...
Read moreToday we visited Cervantes and went into the cafe to enquire about their go karts they had at the front. I waited as I thought the two young ladies were on the phone. One of them looked over to me and said nothing until i asked if she was on the phone. Realizing she wasn’t I asked her if the go karts were for hire and if so how much. She was extremely rude with one word answers. I had to keep asking her questions. About the karts. I asked her how much she said $20 p/h I said ok can I hire two. She asked what site I was staying I then replied and said we weren’t as we were passing through from jurien bay she then said you arnt insured. I had to ask why what do you mean. She again said I wasn’t insured so I had to ask ok if that’s the case can we still hire them she said yes but you are not insured. I said ok that’s fine as the kids just want to ride it around then she said u can’t u can only ride inside the camp site. She was very rude and blunt with no customer service. Her lack of communication and information about the karts was like pulling teeth! My suggestion to you young lady with the black hair is to ask your customer after you have established they are not camping on your site that these karts can only be ridden onsite and for campers only! I will never visit...
Read moreMore of a sandwich bar than a café as we're usually accustomed to... BUT the wraps, rolls and crossaints were fresh, filling and tasty. The small range of muffins and sweet cakes looked freshly made too. I had the choc chip muffin and a egg salad wrap with a double shot soy latte. My partner had the ham and cheese croissant and went back for a muffin after he'd tried some of mine.
Being from Melbourne, I am learning quickly that I am spoiled by the Melbourne coffee scene, but Seashells did not disappoint. The coffee is one of the best I've had whilst in WA, definitely worth stopping in if you're heading north...
