Islands Café — Restaurant in Cervantes

We arrived around 18.45 (on the board it said kitchens close at 19.15) and when we tried to ask for food, we were told "For the people on the bus, you can't order". We told the lady that we were not leaving on the 7 o'clock bus, but the 8 o'clock and she kept insisting we can't order. We were not understanding why we were being discriminated against, and when we asked if ANY customer could order she said "No one can order". I don't understand why then it matters if we are on the bus or not, if no one can order. Why not say so from the start and save us from the confusion? Why is the first question whether we are from town or no, if it doesn't change the fact that we could or couldn't order? This pointed to me at signs of hatred against foreigners. She spoke very rudely, kept rolling her eyes, and the whole exchange was super passive-agressive when we were just confused and wondering why we weren't being served. We understand that staff is tired and wants to go home, that's not the issue, we just didn't like the tone, the seperation of bus and non bus people, and the lack of patience in the entire exchange as we just tried to understand the vague explanation. I recently visited this café and was surprised by the pricing, two burgers, a sandwich, a croissant, and a cold drink totalled $90, which felt excessive given the portion sizes and overall quality. While the food itself was passable, the customer service left much to be desired. During my visit, I observed a potential customer walk in and wait to order, but the staff in the kitchen did not acknowledge him, leading to his departure without placing an order. Rude service. We arrived at 7.15 (advertised as closing at 8), and there was one small group eating their food in the cafe, and one guy standing in front of us in line. Staff took the order for the guy in front of us, and then when it was our turn rudely told us they were closed. Mind you, this was still about 40 minutes before "closing time". Then when we tried to buy food from the service station section we had to wait about 20 minutes to be served.
