I ordered a Chendol ($11) to have there and a Carrot Cake ($15.50) to take away. I had to pay straight away. Awhile later the girl came and told me that they're out of the green tapioca drops which was the star of the show. They offered to substitute it with more red beans. She kept pressing for concurrence. No mention of refund etc. I reluctantly agreed as no one else sells Chendol in Darwin and I needed my fix. The serving was paltry for $11as it was only a small bowl of shaved ice with gula melaka syrup, coconut milk and a dollop of smashed red beans. Daylight robbery. I had a greater shock when I opened my small takeway box of Carrot Cake when I reached my room. It hardly filled 75% of the shallow box (250ml). At $15.50, they could at least have filled the box. It was a very light box and quite salty. The overall saving grace for my meal was the gula melaka and chilli sauce. Other than that, my lunch was a total disaster. The girls were polite and pleasant but it was a rip off. This diner won't be going back for a second bite not to try their $20 Laksa. I'll be sticking to the tried and true...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Makan Stop with my wife and 2 other couples. Jules and her crew (Rachel, Summer, Kelvin and Seng) were very friendly and welcomed us with alacrity. It was service with a smile. We warmed to them quite quickly. It was a delight to experience their unique blend of attention to detail, gracious hospitality, quick service and food quality during our stay in Darwin that we frequently their shops (Makan Stop and Kopi Stop) three times. We basically had every dish on the menu (except roti prata and the braised pork only because we already had too much food). We enjoyed all of them. It was the opinion of the group that Makan Stop easily has the best laksa in town as evidenced by winning the Peoples' Choice award in the Darwin 2023 laksa competition. Highly recommended quality menu. Short waiting time for dishes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place has the best customer service. The baristas are absolutely friendly and remember peopleās orders, from what I observed. My go-to cafe in Darwin when I was there for 5 months. I always go for the iced matcha latte with one sugar and occasionally, ordered food. The Roti Prata is so crispy and I prefer eating it on its own, but itās also equally tasty when eaten with chicken curry. I also tried the Hainanese Chicken Rice and I got no complaints. I also had the Nasi Lemak with fried chicken. As a Malaysian, the rice is too dense with coconut milk and canāt really taste the pandan flavour. The sambal was okay but can definitely add more flavour to it. The fried chicken was delicious. Overall, Iāll definitely drop by...
