Very misleading advertising and the rooms are damaged, tired and old. We booked one of their supposed best rooms - the water view king bed studio apartment. Upon booking, features you are told is that they have a beautiful pool, foxtel, 24/7 room service and other amenities. We came to check in, were asked to wait and waited for 30minutes before we were even attended to. When we finally checked in, we are told the pool is closed (has been for some time) why was this not mentioned on their website or when we booked as we wanted to spend time in pool in hot darwin weather. Only 1 elevator working for guests and maintenance/staff sharing. The hallways to rooms smell very mouldy and damp. When we got to our room, it was very damaged and dirty. The carpet was lifted in multiple areas and covered with rips and cigarette burns. Our fridge looked like someone had taken a scourer to the outside, maybe to remove damage/graffiti from a previous occupant? the glass wardrobe doors were dirty and covered in splatters/hand prints. The bed head had what we could only guess were suspicious bodily or lubricant fluids splattered all over it as it had not been cleaned. The table was all scratched and dented around the sides like it had been thrown and banged around. We rang to ask the assistant manager to change us rooms as the room was disgusting and they did, but it was a disabled access room. However this room was cleaner and in better state then the last. The shower heads are not the nice large party shower heads they show in their photographs online, they are small cheap ones same as what I have at home. There is no blanket on the bed only a sheet, none in cupboard provided either. The foxtel channels they state they have are literally 2 sport channels and free to air TV and that's it, not even a smart TV so you can't connect your phone or log into netflix to watch anything. There is no cold water, mini bar, or snacks provided in the rooms for purchase. Upon trying to order room service we are told only the snack menu is available for roomservice, also misleading from website. We definitely will not be returning...
Read moreI regret to say that our recent stay at Mantra Pandanas in Darwin was far from satisfactory. The room we were initially assigned did not meet the cleanliness standards one would expect from a reputable hotel. The carpets and drapes were heavily stained, and the appliances bore visible signs of wear and tear. The bed linens were also unacceptable, leading us to request a room change.
Although the second room was marginally better, it still did not meet our expectations, especially considering the room rate. The staff's response to our concerns was disappointing, treating our complaints as inconveniences rather than valid customer service issues.
We were also informed only five days prior to our stay that the pool was under renovation. We sought potential compensation for this disruption, but we were flatly told none would be provided. Even our suggestion of waiving the $19 per night parking fee as a goodwill gesture was rejected, despite ample parking being available.
Administrative difficulties added to our frustrations. We requested an invoice under our company's name, as this was a business trip, but the hotel staff insisted that this was not possible. This contrasts sharply with our experiences with other hotels, including another Mantra property in Melbourne, where such requests were easily accommodated.
Disturbingly, at no point did we receive an apology for any of the issues we encountered. We were not even extended a simple acknowledgment of our dissatisfaction, which further compounded our disappointment.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, we can't recommend Mantra Pandanas to others. We hope that the Mantra management will take this feedback seriously and work towards improving the service and conditions at...
Read moreOur stay at the Mantra was less than satisfactory. Our room stunk. It had a smell of mould or something similar. It was not pleasant and was apparent immediately when walking through the door. I tried to air it out by opening the balcony doors, but this did very little. We had a wedding to get to so didn’t have time to deal with the problem.
Upon returning from the wedding at approximately 11pm, my wife and I went to bed. We were abruptly awoken to a fire alarm going off at approximately 1:45am. We got dressed and head down stairs to evacuate. There was an employee running around frantically and appeared very stressed. We heard an announcement over the speaker system that it was clear, so we went back to bed. Only to be awoken again and again by the alarm going off repeatedly.
I spoke to the front desk in the morning regarding our room and our experience. The lady told me that the employees on the night before were new and didn’t know how to operate the fire alarm properly. This alarmed me for a couple of reasons. Such as, why are there new employees being put onto night shift when they’re not fully conversant in emergency procedures? If they are not conversant in such procedures and don’t even know how to operate the fire alarm, how can they be expected to take charge of an emergency situation until emergency services arrive, potentially endangering the lives of guests staying at the hotel.
This coupled with the putrid smell in our room (510) is the reason we will be seeking accomodation elsewhere next time we stay in the city.
I do...
