Said on the menu there was a vegan option for the eggplant parma which is why i came in with my partner and what i ordered for us, i said to make it the vegan version of eggplant parma.
Staff took the order. It was busy so i’ll give benefit of the doubt that i was not heard properly. The food came out with cheese and egg battered eggplant, i said i ordered vegan option as listed, staff replied that VGO just meant vegetarian option and there wasnt vegan option available. I double checked to check if i had made a mistake, it states that VGO = vegan option available for that meal on the menu.
She said the batter has egg in it and no vegan cheese, so basically can remake it but it’s fried eggplant without batter or cheese. For $28, fried eggplant with no batter or replacement cheese and would have to wait again to be remade. Not something i would consider a parma.
Refund was offered and staff were friendly and apologised about it.
But feedback is, if you want state vegan option, offer it properly and ensure the staff are familiar with menu and dietary restrictions. There is an egg replacement called flax seed that has a long shelf life and widely available. (Vegan cheese is also available.)
People also order vegan for dietary allergies too, such as to egg. I know people take that more seriously. Please improve education of staff to ensure everyone new/young is aware of vegan vs vegetarian, as i understand it’s not common in Darwin but it is very important to my beliefs. And respectful if you offer to cater that, to have it...

Read moreFirst time in Darwin and saw shenanigans so we thought we would check it out. Nice looking pub and we arrived in time for happy hour. Ordered dinner and I wanted to have garlic prawns as a main meal but they only had it in entree size so after a while it was sorted to get a main but it had to come with rice which I thought would have been a given even for an entree size . My friend ordered steak, anyway an hour went by so we asked how much longer and was told 5 to 10 minutes. When our food arrived I received a small bowl of prawns swimming in soupy garlic liquid and a separate bowl of rice and my friend received a charcoal bit of steak. We committed to a waitress who didn’t seem to care much and we left very disappointed.
Thanks for replying We would like...
