One of the best coffee shops in Canberra hands down and in my opinion comparable to some of the best coffee shops in Melbourne. They source their own coffee, which you can buy online. Their coffee generally has a particular flavour profile you will not find elsewhere in Canberra. They even offer in house nut milk at no extra charge.

The food is good and functional and has a street food vibe. Simplicity is the focus. Still the ingredients are fresh and the selection is ok for what it is (note: tiny cafe kitchen). They used to do some killer tacos but those are no longer on the menu. Still the food feels more supplementary than the star of the show.

Their baristas are great, friendly and very experienced. Usually up for a friendly chat if you're in the mood. There seems to be a great working environment because some of these guys have been working here for as long as I can remember (pre 2018).

Ambience wise the shop is small but cosy despite its functional style decor. Getting a seat on weekends is hard so be prepared to wait or do takeaway. The small shop helps the space feel more personal and intimate.

Really disappointing both service and food-wise. When we arrived, one of the proprietors was chatting with a diner and we thought we needed to wait to be seated but we were neither asked to enter or wait to take a seat. So after a moment of awkwardness we approached the counter and ordered our food - the beginning of a horrible experience. The girl couldn’t speak over the music playing and with the added inhibition of a mask, that made it more difficult to understand her.

My partner ordered the special - an English muffin with eggs scrambled with avocado and ham. It was clearly microwaved and not consistently hot throughout. His English breakfast tea arrived so hot it was undrinkable for at least 5mins.

I ordered the PB&J - one slice of toast with a blob of jam and an overly generous helping of peanut butter. The “jam” tasted like berry coulis and was sweet. The mocha I ordered tasted really watery and only faintly of coffee.

All in all, I’d be looking elsewhere for breakfast. It was overpriced for what was on offer at...

Hands down, the BEST breaky / coffee joint in Canberra!!

As a venue owner myself here in Sydney, I can say that you guys seriously have your s…t together! I knew as soon as I walked in at midday today that this was a hidden gem. I found it by taking a wrong turn and what a discovery this joint is. I often visit family in Canberra and look for a solid breaky to eat on the road, as I drive back to Sydney. It just had a vibe and look that said “we give a f….k!” The lovely woman serving me recommended the black bean toastie with jalepeno. Damn it was good. Could not believe it was only $6. I would have paid $10 easily. You could tell it was made with love. I also ordered a salmon salad but after the toastie filled me I ended up eating it for dinner when I got home and it still tasted insane. Chai latte was also off the charts. Well done to all your team. Class...

The toasties here are to die for! Had the Bully Beef which was like a Reuben - bread is toasted to perfection, crunchy on the outside. Generous amounts of corned beef that pair amazingly with the cheese and pickles. Hubby had a cheese toastie (I forget the name) but it was fully loaded with cheesy goodness and potato bites (maybe potato, not 100% sure). Regardless, also delicious. They even have special sauces to try with your toasties, which they also sell in store. Spoilt for choice really. Definitely gonna be back to try the other sandwiches!

One of Canberra's premier cafes. It sits on trendy Lonsdale Street in Braddon just a few minutes from the city centre. Barrio CC features expertly made coffees and a seasonally focused menu. The food is adventurous and more importantly ingredients where possible are sourced from local suppliers. One of the standout dishes on their winter menu is snowy trout and chase it down with a super cool Espresso, Lime and Tonic. It's a small, intimate cafe with super friendly service and a real community to feel to the atmosphere.
