This place was a recommendation from a family member we are visiting in Canberra. In particular the Three Treasures was suggested as being especially good. We got there at about 11.15 so it was nice and quiet. The place is minimalist and clean and tidy. You help yourself to glasses and a jug of water while waiting for your food. We opted to share the Three Treasures, which was your choice of three from soya sauce chicken, roast duck, char siu pork, roasted belly pork, and Chinese sausage. There was also a Four Treasures option. We opted for char siu, roasted pork, and the sausage as we had had roast duck elsewhere a couple of days earlier. They came over a big serve of rice covered with sauce and some choi sum. We also ordered a side of smashed cucumber and garlic salad. The cuisine is classic Cantonese and its good when you are eating to her the staff concerse in Cantonese. It's somehow reassuring. The food was superb, it hit all the right notes and tasted exactly as it should. The cucumber salad was excellent but the garlic flavour is strong and lingers. Master Goose is above Kmart. Credit cards are accepted and disable access is possible. We caught the train in but i imagine there's paid parking...
Read moreMy visit to Master Goose Restaurant left much to be desired. The high price tag attached to the minuscule portions was a stark contrast to the underwhelming quality of the food. The noodle dish I ordered lacked any discernible flavor, a major letdown in a culinary setting.
Regrettably, the service was equally subpar. The lady who took my order displayed a shocking lack of customer service skills. Her demeanor was discourteous and her interactions lacked any semblance of hospitality.
The most distressing aspect, however, was the behavior of the chef at the meat counter. Their loud, aggressive manner of handling the food was not only unprofessional but also created an uncomfortable atmosphere for diners. Their behavior was a stark contrast to what one expects in a restaurant setting.
Given my experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Master Goose Restaurant to a friend or anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience. There are far better options available that offer both quality food and...
Read moreI asked for a pair of disposable chopsticks. Because I’m pregnant, The first time they refused, and only gave them to me after I asked a second time. Then I politely, humbly, and carefully asked if they had a spoon?but the lady from Hong Kong rolled her eyes at me and said NO. I ate that meal feeling nervous and super careful — really uncomfortable. Later, when I read other reviews, I finally realized — this place only gives disposable chopsticks to customers who speak English🤣🤣 Maybe you guys should put this requirement on the door — after all, it’s just speaking English, not...
