Amazing Pinoy Food! 10/10 Stars!!!
We only planned on eating here once during our 5-day stay in Canberra, and originally wanted to try other cuisines.
We ended up eating 4 out of the 5 days we were here! (Only because they were closed on Mondays, otherwise, we would have been here daily! (Our 5th day would be a take-away order, as we're driving elsewhere for the last leg of our holidays, but we couldn't resist not having one last meal at Salu-Salo, so, takeaway it is!!!)
Authentic Filipino food at its best - we sampled as many items on their menu as we could. Prices were very competitive, with restaurant quality meals, and presentation. The owners were always welcoming into their establishment, and went out of their way for customer service.
I haven't been back home to the Philippines for a good few years now - but Salu-Salo definitely gave me back the memories of how wonderful Filipino food is supposed to taste like. Almost felt like we were back home, with relatives who actually knew how to cook, lol, or a restaurant that you frequented for their delectable meals. The BBQ pork/chicken almost tasted like it came off the grill of one our our favourite and expensive restaurants back in the Philippines. It was difficult to choose favourites, as EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious. But if we were to narrow our choices, dinuguan, pansit palabok, any of the grilled meats, ube ice cream, and crispy chicken skin were on the top of our list.
Kudos and mabuhay to you guys! Hope to see you again in the near future! Regards -...
Read moreWe just had the most incredible lunch at Northside Garden Cafe! Our experience was nothing short of outstanding. Here's a glimpse of our mouthwatering adventure:
Prepare to be blown away by the sisig! It's an absolute delight with its perfect balance of crunchiness and flavor. Unlike other sisig dishes, this one isn't greasy at all, which adds to its overall excellence.
Calling all coffee lovers! The coffee at Northside Cafe deserves a 100/10 rating. It's so good that I couldn't resist having not one, but two cups! ❤️
The crispy pork at Northside Cafe is a true testament to the authentic flavors of Filipino cuisine. Every bite is an explosion of taste that will transport you to foodie heaven.
If you're a fan of bold flavors, you'll adore their sinigang na hipon. The delightful combination of sour and salty notes creates a harmonious symphony in your mouth.
Brace yourself for the ultimate foodie revelation: the pinakbet. Trust me when I say you'll fall head over heels for it. The unmistakable essence of Ilocano cuisine shines through, making it an absolute must-try.
In a nutshell, every dish we tried at Northside Cafe was beyond amazing. You won't be disappointed!
Make sure to pay a visit and experience the sheer deliciousness of Filipino cuisine at Northside Cafe. It's an adventure your taste buds won't soon...
Read moreWe stumbled across this restruant as we were driving past. Coming from Sydney and missing pinoy foods glad that we found this place. Living in Canberra for 3 years now I wish I had known about this place sooner I'm from Woden Valley area. We ordered the bangus with garlic rice, pork belly with garlic rice, spring rolls and the pinoy desserts. The flavours were there , it was tasty , satisifying our cravings for pinoy food. Their spring rolls are so flavoursome I wish we had ordered more instead of a 3 pack. Their desserts were fresh and not stale. The reason why I left out 2 stars is becasue the serving size for the price you pay is on the smaller size and if youre from Sydney you'll know the serving size is bigger and the price is lower but doesnt skim out on the quailty. (Example, $18 for 1 bangus, palm size of garlic rice, one slice of cucumber, one slice of tomato and 1 small sized fried egg, very well calculated) Like I said the flavours are there and satisfied the craving to eat pinoy foods just like how mum cooks it, it hits the spot. I guess it's just the ACT pricing. We'll be back as I'd like to try out more dishes and the halo halo!! I hope the community backs up this restruant. Thank you...
