⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An absolutely unforgettable experience at The George Harcourt Inn! A huge shoutout to the incredible chefs – Hank, Jacob, Sonam, Louis, Mari, and Chencho – and to the wonderful bar staff who were patient, kind (and very good looking, may I add!). From the entrees to the mains to the desserts, every single dish was a star. I’m from Melbourne, and food there is known for its high quality and variety. But let me say this – in my 20 years in Australia, I’ve had salt and pepper squid countless times, and never have I tasted one like this. Perfectly crisp, lightly crumbed just right, not heavy, and so delicious I didn’t even need tartare sauce. It was just an entrée size, but it filled me up beautifully. There were 8 of us at the table, and every single main meal was devoured – from fries to burgers, steak to sausages – everything was absolutely divine. And then came the desserts: the pavlova, the mud cake, and the orange almond flourless cake. Each one was priced fairly, bursting with flavour, and left us wanting more. The venue itself is brilliant – whether inside or outside, there’s plenty of seating, loads of parking, and it’s perfectly located right by the Dinosaur Museum and Crystal Shop, making it a fantastic spot to spend an entire afternoon. Despite being absolutely chockers with families and kids, the team managed everything with speed, efficiency, and warm smiles. Our meals came out quickly, without any delay, and every bite was pure joy. If I could give 100 stars, I absolutely would. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant – thank you for having us. I can’t wait to return and try even more from your menu. God bless you all. 🙌

I've often gone to The George for food and drinks and the experience has mostly been positive. The long line to order food and the long hour wait to finally receive the food are just part of The George experience. However, on my most recent visit, after having paid $20 for a Thai beef salad and the usual long wait, the beef strips in the salad came raw (keep in mind I like my stake rare). I think to myself, no worries, these things happen, must've been an oversight as they are busy. I buck up the courage to go take the salad back (I absolutely hate sending food back to the kitchen), I explain to the chef the situation, only to receive a, "it is meant to be like this, it is pre-cooked and we can't do anything about it". He offered to cook me something else but as I worried I'd get spit in my food, I opted for the money back. Luckily my friend's nachos and sweet tater chips were delicious and I had some of that instead. I couldn't eat that salad and it's safe to say I will not be returning anytime soon. But hey, it could just be me, I'll leave it up to you to decide... See picture attached.

Went there last Sunday for quick lunch. To order the food we had to queue for around 15 min, and once finally got to the cashier to order we noticed the sign right on the bottom of cashier saying “ George says the waiting time for your food is 45 min”. There was no way we could see that sign before we lined up☹. Decided to stay and wait for food as we already lost 15 min there. We placed the order took little buzzer thing they gave us so we know when the food is ready so we can go and collect it. The weather was really nice that day and we decided to sit in the little court yard. We are sitting and sitting and waiting and waiting for the little buzzer to go off and keep saying ourselves the sign said 45 min!!!! so we are waiting and waiting. Then after a long long time, a young waiters comes around and asks us if we did order A,B,C? We said yes, we did and she goes, oh good, your buzzer thing run out of battery and your food is sitting there ready to be picked up for some time now. You can go and get it now. My jaw dropped (why you would not bring it by yourself if your buzzer is stuffed up and it was sitting there for SOME TIME NOW!!??). I went to pick up the food and can see it sitting under the lamp. I said to the person on the pass, that I was asked to come and collect our order. He took the plates from under the lamp and put it on the pass for me to collect. The plate was so hot that I burned my hand a little, and I went ouch! Sorry sir but this plate is way too hot for me to carry it to the table, could you please put it on another plate for me? He looked like I just asked him for a million dollars! And put empty plate underneath my stake dish. Looking very unhappy he slides the chicken wings from one plate to another and making a lot of noise he slides another plate under the corn nachos. He looked very annoyed, did not said sorry or anything, just very unhappy man clearly not taking pride on doing his job right. So in the end our lunch consist of: dried up chicken wings, nachos with hot cream and hot avocado ( heated from the lamp) and $30 stake served with mushroom gravy that had grown skin sitting under the lamp and garden salad with tomatoes an cucumbers heated from the lamp and leaves that were not crunchy at all cos were sitting under that stupid lamp again. SO VERY DISAPPOINTING. Will not ever be back. Not even one apology from the waiter or person on the pass. I don’t think it was very hard to put new crispy garden salad on the plate and change the gravy to new one without the skin on it and add coupe of spoon of cream and avocado to the nachos. If you love what you do and take care of your customers, this thing should not be pointed out, it should be obvious! Not recommending this place at all. 1 star for the nice court yard, food and service - big fat 0...

This place has the best food and drink, and the only reason I am giving 2 stars is because of the manager who is also the owners son. We ordered a cocktail jug and we were told by another tender to come back in 10 mins and it would be waiting for us. Well our buzzer went off for our food and so we went in and collected our food then went to the end of the bar where we were told to go and asked another guy twice, “are these our drinks” there was a jug and two drinks poured. We were told “yeah, I’m just finishing them off” so then we took them back to the table and DID NOT drink them as we were eating our food when the nice tender came out with another jug and glasses and looked as us and the realised we already had our cocktail jug and then we weren’t sure if we had taken the correct one so he went to check. Next minute the manager came out and incredibly rudely said “you’ve just taken these without paying for them, they aren’t yours now you have to pay for them” when we tried to explain that we had accidentally taken the wrong ones he said “yours was sitting there and no one came To collect it so we took it away” to which we said we had been told to way 10 mins and that’s where it would be. And again we got told we had to pay for it. Which we refused, A- it was an honest mistake, B- we asked TWICE when we collected them if they were ours and we were told yes, C- now we didn’t have the correct drinks and neither did the other people. The manager keep saying you didn’t order martini’s did you? Obviously not and obviously it was an honest mistake. Then we went back in to speak to the nice bloke, Kyle I think? Who we apologised to and explained it was an honest mistake and he knew that and not to worry. The the dude who gave us the wrong order said “it’s that or nothing”. A mistake was made on both ends and the way the manager and another staff member spoke to us was appalling, if we ever spoke to someone like that in our line of work it would be an instant dismissal. Even if the manager boss was their dad. We were not rude at any point, but when your met with hostility straight up it’s pretty...
