Good atmosphere, venue and seating. The staff are mostly cool and positive to the customers. The cheeseburger was very ordinary, rather dry, pickles were uninteresting and the meat was bland. The fried chicken was not cut at all how it should have been and the coating tasted like plain white bread, (it was overly thick and strange) the chicken itself was okay. Southern fried chicken is a piece of piss to make. I don't know how they stuffed it up so bad. Might have just been a badly made batch? The wings had the tips still on and not cut off, very disappointing. Chicken burger was also a disappointment. Thigh meat on a chicken burger is blasphemous. Unless it is pre-warned for whatever reason. I'm willing to try it again as there are almost no places in Canberra doing ordinary American food. Canberra needs to lift its game on American style food places. Use Easey's in Melbourne as an example. No burger, drink and fries combo should be over $15. This food is cheap in the states for a reason.

Read moreFinally, I've found a pub in Canberra that I am excited to call my local.
If you've not tried Frisky Lager or Frisky Dark then you haven't found your new favourite beer. If you have, you know you don't need a selection of 30 beers to make a great pub. You need good beers and thats what is here.
The food menu is pretty standard pub food and it's good! The curry's they have on 'special' are exceptional... better than restaurants.
But what makes this my local is the service. The waitress is exceptional. She remembered my 'usual' after just one visit and her smile will make even the greyest day seem bright. Waiting times are really short, even in the busiest times.
It's a great place for a family lunch, a catch up with mates or...
Read moreVery disappointing. Initially ordered drinks, with one drink being a sparkling mineral water, however was given a west coast cooler in a glass, which i luckily tasted before giving to our 2yr old. When I told the bar staff what he'd done, his reply "what, thats not a mineral water?". Ordered food: a burger, popcorn chicken, 6x wings, some chips and slaw which was about $60. Burger bun was stale and paddy not cooked properly. $9 chips where terrible, not hot and looked like the leftovers scrapped together. Slaw was far to creamy to the point of it being inedible. We asked for some barbeque sauce and told we had to handover another $2. The sauce was runny, far to sweet, without a hint of bbq flavour. Popcorn...
