As a Korean, I can say the food is fairly good compared to what else you can find in Australia. The after-meal fried rice (K-dessert!) was definitely the highlight. That being said, the experience was well below average. Maybe we caught them on a bad or understaffed night, but there seemed to be no system, and chaos reigned. The bickering – in English and Korean – and negative vibes spilled out from the open kitchen, leaving an atmosphere as sour as the radish kimchi.

As a Korean, I can confidently say this restaurant offers a truly satisfying and authentic dining experience. The side dishes (banchan) were fresh, varied, and generous—just like you'd expect back home. The main dishes were equally impressive, full of bold, traditional flavours that brought a real sense of comfort and familiarity. It's great to finally have a quality Korean spot on the south side of town. Highly recommend for anyone craving genuine Korean cuisine!

Wow. I’m glad we trusted the other reviews and gave it a go. Fabulous food. Quick and friendly service. Delicious flavours. We tried the soy chicken and the spicy pork. Melt in your mouth dishes. There’s a drawer under the table with cutlery and napkins. (Thank you for the forks!) We even took home two full takeaway containers of leftovers. Starting from $29 per ‘platter’ which includes soup and rice. We will be back with the rest of the family.

The Best Local Korean Dining Experience: Gisa Sikdang

If you’re looking to experience the most authentic Korean home-style food, Gisa Sikdang is absolutely the place to go. These eateries were originally established to cater to taxi drivers, focusing on quick service, hearty meals, and truly local flavors. Nowadays, they’ve become a favorite for both locals and tourists seeking real Korean food.

Signature Dishes • Spicy Stir-fried Pork (Dwaeji Bulgogi): One of the must-try dishes at Gisa Sikdang. The pork is marinated in a special house sauce and grilled to perfection—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Wrap it in fresh lettuce and enjoy a burst of flavor. • Soybean Sprout Hangover Soup (Kongnamul Haejang-guk): A light yet comforting soup with plenty of soybean sprouts, perfect for detoxing or anyone craving something clean and warm. • Korean-style Pork Cutlet (Donkatsu): Crispy on the outside and tender inside, this dish is served with a savory sauce and steamed rice—an all-time favorite among diners.

Atmosphere & Service

Gisa Sikdang restaurants are often simple in decor, but full of warmth and authenticity. Staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is quick—just like it was designed for busy drivers. Many of these restaurants open early and close late, making them convenient for any time of day.

Affordable Prices

One of the best things about Gisa Sikdang is the price. Most meals cost around AUD $10 - 29, making it a great choice for those who want a satisfying meal without...

Absolutely Fantastic! The food is incredible! So delicious! Perfect dinner truly!

The complimentary sides were spectacular, each so flavourful and delicious, we could not believe that they were free!

The portions of the mains are filling and generous! With a lot of meat! (Which is great!)

I really recommend this spot if you’re craving Korean food. I came here first with a mate and loved it so much I had to come back with my mum. We both had a great time. The Korean fried chicken and dakgalbi were so tasty, and the hot tea hit the spot.

The food’s affordable, the flavours are amazing, and the place has a really comfy, homey feel. Only thing I’d say is for the owners to double-check the bills — I accidentally underpaid but went back to fix it.

Overall, awesome food, great value, and I’ll definitely...
