Lemongrass — Restaurant in District of Woden Valley

I never ever leave reviews for restaurants, because guess what? They're all pretty decent.

Wow. What an absolute nightmare in regards to the service at Lemongrass. Firstly, staff seemed worried, stressed, overwhelmed and terribly uninspired. They were completely inattentive. The amount of times we had to ask them to come over to our table to either take an order or bring us over something was far too many to count. At one point one of the staff members walked past us without making eye contact and refusing to assist us, picked up a chair on the table next to us, in order to adjust it rather than simply checking up on us, his customers! We left after having to get up from our table to request for a takeaway box, no one at any point checked up on us to see how the meal was going (standard restaurant protocol no?) or to see if anything was needed. Mind you, staff were wandering around clearing and wiping tables rather than tending to their customers.

The food was good. Great even. It's no wonder why they literally have no customers in their restaurant. The food is great, but I can't imagine dealing with such abhorrent customer service again just for some Pad Thai.

I doubt they'll care about my comment, given that I'm not the only one who has left such a review. Not much has changed considering how I've experienced the same lousy service others have...

Had an early Mother’s Day dinner here last week and can say we will not be returning.

The food was actually really nice but the horrible customer service is enough for us not to return.

The staff here seem very confused and like it’s their first night. My father in law went up to the bar/front area to area the older man behind the bar for a few beers as no one had come by our table since we were seated and the man was so unbelievably rude telling my FIL to ‘go tell one of the girls’ (waitresses) that he wanted a beer?? How hard is it for the guy behind the bar to just say yep I’ll get one of the waitresses to bring it to you!

We waited for 1 hour to receive the first couple dishes and then waited another 30 minutes to receive the rest of the dishes and the restaurant was less than half full! I couldn’t imagine if it was full!

Lastly we ordered some drinks from one of the younger waiters towards the end of our meal and he looked so confused? Then came back to clean up our table 10 minutes later with no drinks. We then asked for the drinks again and he again reacted really confused and muttered something, then FINALLY returned with the drinks some time later.

The staff here all seem confused and act like they have no idea what’s going on.

Oh and how can a restaurant only have ONE HIGHCHAIR??? I’ve never heard something so...

Not to be confused with the fantastic Lemongrass Thai in Civic. Possibly the worst dining experience I’ve had in Canberra. Food was very slow to arrive (in a quiet restaurant), and orders were not accurately taken by the waiting staff.

I won’t bother with the ‘yellow’ vegetable curry that was actually a green curry with undercooked vegetables.

But, to top it all off, a serve of vegetarian noodles had chicken in it. This could have just been an honest mistake. However, when we bought this to the attention of our waiter (the manager) he took the dish back to the kitchen and then returned, telling us the chicken was egg. Which it was not. We questioned it again, showing him a dismantled piece of this ‘egg’ that was clearly chicken. He returned to the kitchen and then came back telling us it was tofu and gave me a patronising lecture on how cooking tofu in sauce makes it look like that. I gave him the chicken to smell (because it stank like a roast chook from Woolies) and he continued to insist it was a vegetarian dish. No apologies, no offer to make another, no hint that a table of long-time vegetarians might be acutely aware of what meat smells and looks like. No, just lot of patronising, condescending **. This venue is not concerned with good customer service. Will not be returning ever. Not...
