Although the food was delicious, the service and atmosphere certainly do not stand up to the prices charged. When I ordered the lamb at $48 I expected it to come with some vegetables as well, but it seems that is a separate order! When I made my order, it wasn't advised to me that this was the case otherwise I might have thought twice about ordering that particular dish. I certainly would not have ordered a separate side dish of vegetables to add to the bill. I was with friends, who had organised the table (that's a loose term for a high bench with high seats that stretches the whole depth of the establishment and you have to share with strangers and also have to walk to the opposite end first before being able to go to the toilets if you are seated at the wrong side!) and would not have left them there to eat alone, but if confronted with this pricing and I was only with my wife alone, then I would have left your establishment. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy to pay the prices you are setting for your delicious food, but I would expect a restaurant experience rather than a cafe/bistro experience. Also, please desist from adding insult to the prices by then charging the bank fee on top, this is a fee that you should be incorporating to your price structure and should not be the extra sting in the tale when finalising the bill, which I might add, was paid for in advance like you do in a cafe!
I don't think I will be returning or recommending your establishment to...
Read moreEvery three months my mates and I have what we call a 'Lads Lunch' where a group of us pick a new restaurant or bar in Perth for a catch up, few beers and a good meal. Brown Street Grill popped up on our list of searches and was booked in. Now, I will precursor this by saying those who book these events in can live and die by their selections, as the usual good natured banter is par for the course if it's bad. There was 10 of us hungry blokes who rolled in for lunch on the Saturday 5th of July and we opted for the 'feed me' menu. What followed was bar to none, and agreed upon by pretty much everyone who attended, one of the best - if not the best - lunches we've ever had in our 5 year history of these events and we've sampled a heap of venues. The food was absolutely sublime, full of flavour, fresh, moorish and filling (for a bunch of guys who can eat, that's no mean feat). The price was solid and to top it off the service was prompt, attentive and warm and the beers were ice cold. If you are looking for a new place to eat, this is the spot. Tucked nicely into the East Perth area, train stations and local bars within a stones throw and locally owned - it's the perfect set up! Check it out if you get a chance. You will not be disappointed. We will be back 100%.
Thank you!

Read moreVery Disappointed to say the least... Was told by a staff member that the steak here was voted the best in Perth here so decided to order 2x steaks, broccoli and fat potatoes. Both steaks were chewy, one had 1/3 fat which couldn't be eaten. Asked for one medium and one medium to well and both came out medium. No flavor in steaks at all apart from tasting like fat. Broccoli was soft and over done. Potatoes were very very oily and dripping with oil in dish. People taking our orders were polite and accommodating but waiter taking our dishes (apparently only been there 2 weeks) after we had fished seemed to not have a care in the world. We asked what the chef said regarding our feedback and he said " nothing, I just passed your feedback on" We were also told that the outside area where you have to go thru to enter & exit the front entrance of the venue was closing at 8pm so we would have to vacate. He was very rude about it as a matter of fact. Weird seeing that people have to go thru that area. Won't be returning here again that's for sure, and I'm sure the rude staff member won't be there for much longer if he continues to behave like that to...
