this is lengthy but please read before staying!!! WARNING!!
the foyer doors have to be opened by a staff member inside and the windows are mirrored- on arrival you're wondering if you are in the right place. press a button to talk to someone inside and they will let you in.... I go in and just get asked the name of the booking and then handed the eftpos machine to pay with a quick verbal wifi password in passing, i asked where i can park my car and was told "yes we have parking" this went back and forth 3 times for me to get a simple answer of where i can park. then i was told i had to pay a further $50 security bond for the room that was never mentioned in the booking and given the eftpos machine again? trial and error we figured out how to navigate the closed off street to park, circling the block 3 times and then travelling through the fire escape stairwell maze across another car park and back to the foyer. the next day we went out and on return none of our access keys were working, we had room 303, i took them to the counter was told sorry and given back keys that had 306 on them and these worked to let us in our room. we were woken up at 4am by the fire alarm Sunday morning. NO ONE! knew what was going on or directed in any way to safety, guests were standing in room door ways asking each other what is happening because the fire alarm does not sound like a fire alarm? once we smelt smoke we understood and headed down the fire stairs from the 3rd floor. out the front the fire department was there and the staff were just standing over to the side by themselves with no idea what to do, i over heard the fireman say a faulty isolator (but just read a previous review this happened a month back too!) no one was told to go back in and we were all standing out side, barely in clothes, in 4'C. once the fire truck left people started assuming we could go back inside. we decided that's enough and time to check out, we went back up to our room to grab our things, i lifted up the bed to make sure nothing was dropped and lost under there before leaving and that's when we saw a used dirty baby nappy, food scraps and waste. i advised the 2 staff members at the counter on checking out and they just smiled and said thank you, i reiterated did you just hear what i said? and they replied it's ok you can go now..
the atmosphere of this hotel is likened to out the front of hospital emergencies 2am on a Saturday morning if you've ever had the experience, this is not somewhere i will ever recommend or ever come back to- someone else previously wrote spend the extra $50 and stay at the ibis and i can completely understand why! i just wish i read the reviews first this is no where near a 2 star hotel i will be passing on to health and safety authorities, the emergency procedure is not practiced or non existent and the cleaning does not happen and from the review responses is just blamed on the staff rather than the management of the business.
the only positive i can give is the location, being in the city it was close to the events we were going to coming from...
Read moreWould not recommend this Hotel, firstly, no crockery eg, plates dish for breakfast . or cutlery., had to go get it myself from upstairs restaurant, only 2 cups and glasses in there, also kettle not fit under tap in bathroom had to use a plastic jug which only just made it , as sink very small, shelf in shower 7ft up on wall from base of shower, ok if you are 6ft tall but as i am only 5ft , tough hey. Housekeeping lot to be desired, after being out for the day came back to find nothing done breakfast and previous evening meal dishes still on bench had to take them down to reception myself . this happened twice, . also bus as per pic on hotel does not stop outside door , it stops bottom of street , so have to walk back up a bit of a hill ,Also on checking in told pay $150 Bond? will refund when check out , ok gave person my card details, and thought ok thats fine , Wrong , when it came to checkout time told $150 in my bank in 2 to 3 days , still waiting a week later after numerous ph calls the person on ph said i had paid with an AMEX card which i do not have , so still waiting for conclusion to this. Answer ?you get what you pay for , must say Indian /asian lady on reception very nice , helped me with Wi-Fi problem , will choose wisely next time . I actually forgot to say , no microwave or even a toaster, so had to get instant food eg, fish and chips or restaurant upstairs which was good food . , or even sandwiches , only good thing bed was comfy , whole place needs a good makeover , pretty...

We checked in and checked out the same day, bathroom tap hanging off, which they must have known but did Absolutely nothing about. The room was dark and miserable with side window to a car park entrance. Not one picture on any wall, just to give you any warm comfort to the room. We left at 17:00 as we couldn’t face a night in this room or hotel. Sadly I can’t show you pictures as my phone had no charge. When I told reception we were leaving and handed the room keys back, because of the state of our room, her response was Ok you’re good to go. The car park at the rear of the hotel is a hazard with very little room to manoeuvre if you have a large car like we did. The location is average to say the least, a 25 minutes walk to Elizabeth Quay and main shopping area. It’s true what they say “You get what you pay for” in this case, I don’t think we even got that! Oh and let’s not forget, only one lift working! AND FROM ALL THE BAD COMMENTS BELOW, HOTEL PLEASE DON’T REPLY…BECAUSE READING ALL THE COMMENTS YOU HAVE MANY A CHANCE TO PUT THIS HOTEL TO A BETTER STANDARD, RATHER THAN JUST SAYING “ THANKS FOR...
