ROAST AND TOAST LUNCH BAR AND CAFE — Restaurant in Esperance

This place is more akin to an 80s working mens club than a bar. The staff are friendly, but there is very little atmosphere in the bar, despite it being a large, clean space with plenty of seating. Even the tall chairs have backs, which is great, but they are sadly in need of reupholstering. The food (beef schnitzel and seafood basket) was a huge disappointment and $50 not well spent. The beef was underseasoned, and the mushroom sauce appeared to be made from canned mushrooms and instant gravy. The salad dressing was incredibly sweet and, in my opinion, inedible. The seafood basket was a meagre offering for $24 95 with far too many chips and too little seafood. R&T are new to town. We walked in for lunch and the place was packed, which is lovely to see for a new business. We have eaten here numerous times for breakfast and found the food and coffee to be very good and not over priced.

On this occasion it seems the team had been overwhelmed. We walked up to order meals and noticed there were a lot of tables waiting for food, which had us concerned on how long the wait for meals would be because we were limited for time. The lady at the counter was clearly stressed and failed to notice us standing there in front of her to make an order or enquire on potential wait times.
