I was entirely disappointed by the unprofessionalism and power trip of the security guards at the venue last night. In particular a man with ID number: 58794.
My four friends and I arrived in line at approximately 11.00 pm last night. The line was relatively small, when my friends and I noticed that the security guards were picking out women from the line and allowing them to come in without showing any identification or going through the scantek system. Although odd, we continued staying in line until we got in at approximately 11.20 pm.
Whilst sitting down at one of the tables near the entrance, I saw at least three separate individuals vomit on the floor. I didn’t think that this was necessarily the Bar's fault, as I could see that employees were constantly rushing around to clean up the vomit from the floor.
At approximately 11.30 pm, we headed down to the bottom floor to the dance floor. We danced for approximately 10-15 minutes when my partner and his friend decided to go and get themselves a drink at the Bar. This was when the security guard approached my partner to tell him that they “needed to have a chat upstairs” and my partner was subsequently dragged towards the staircase. We approached the security guard and my partner to ask what was going on. At no point did the security guard informs us why he “needed to chat upstairs”, nor why he ought to have thought that it would be reasonable for him to drag and mishandle a person.
We started to ask why the security guard wanted to chat, we could clearly hear him, and he certainly could hear us. Another security guard approached us to let us know that he would not be kicked out and that he was simply going to “chat” with the security guard upstairs.
My partner was not overly intoxicated. He was not stumbling, he was not “passing out”, he was certainly not vomiting the same way we had seen other customers do that night, and he was certainly not violent, unlike the security guard we had to deal with.
The security guard continued to drag my partner out of the premises and then proceeds to let us know that my partner would be banned from the venue. Quite frankly, although uncalled for, we do not intend to ever return to Arbor if the security guards are allowed to do as they please without proper justification.
During this altercation, we repeatedly asked for this security guard's name and details, but he refused to provide us with any information and covered his identification card...
Read moreI was served by a very friendly woman and asked what the best value pint was. I was told that a 10.9% lychee pint was the best value at $19. The lovely lady even asked if we’d like ice or would rather have her fill it up for values sake, to which we said no ice would be great. Now as anyone who can count would know, a $19 10.9% is not particularly great value, but is assumedly the best value pint at an establishment like this, where, for example something like a “single fin” pint goes for $14.
$14 for a 570ml pint at 4.5% is poor value, so a $19 570ml pint at 10.9% is about half the price in terms of value for money, which would certainly be a good deal.
Instead, we were given 150ml wine glasses full of ice. Let’s do the maths here, take a costly single fin pint:
Standard Drinks= 570×4.5×0.789= 2022.135/1000= 2.02 standard drinks and $6.93 per standard drink (bad value)
Now take the “pint” we were offered:
570×10.9×0.789 = 4902/1000= 4.9 standard drinks or $3.88 per standard drink (good value for a pub)
As stated earlier, we were then given 150ml wine glasses and told after argument that “this tap beer is actually a wine so we only do 150ml wine glasses” Maths on that: 150×10.9×0.789 = 1290/1000 = 1.29 standard drinks or $14.73/standard drink, less than half the value of an expensive pint and after explaining so to the bar manager I was “removed” from the premises, a totally dictatorial move from a bar manager that at best can’t add up and at worst is deliberately ripping people off to the tune of two times the price of a pint when explicitly asked what is cheap.
Incredibly rude or stupid or both and I will not be going back until someone can either learn to add up or take responsibility and stop trying to rip off punters.
(FOR CONTEXT, and this is the bit our gal didn’t get, a pint of what we ordered would have cost us $33.91/pint, after asking for the best value pint. Times that by the 5 of us and you can understand how much we were ripped off by. I should realistically take it up with the ACCC given the...

Now, as it turns out, I don't much have a personality so of their huge selection of food, I only had pizza. It was amazing pizza, however though, had creativity blossomed in my cranial area, I would of been impressed by this menu. More so, being a certified only child from the hills, patients isn't my virtue. They knocked the pizza out mighty fast for how busy they were. I didn't say anything because I prefer introverted interaction only. However I was secretly impressed.
Being a blokes bloke and not wanting to come across as a soft office type, I opted to have a ginger beer. It was a good ginger beer. They also had a good drinks selection. Very fine indeed if that's your cup of tea. They also had tea.
I know you're all saying, Hey Chris, shut up about the food, no one cares about your opinion, tell us the zombie defence rating.
Well to you mob of haters, I say ok. I will.
Zombie defence:
It has multiple entries, and not a sturdy defensive wall. So for repelling the hoard, it gets a 3.
However, good food stores and lots of cover for the messy fire fight you'll end up in. Many available weaponries and a enough exits for a heroic roof sliding escape should you get overrun. Down stairs, if you can barricade up, you've got a good chance, wouldn't select it as a base. Very good outpost.
Over all:
6/10 for zombie survival
9/10 for everything else like...
