Maybe my experience was different to others but I visited this escape room a little while ago and was meaning to write a review, however, after reading the replies from the owner from the other negative reviews, I was a bit hesitant to state my opinion and provide feedback. So if a staff does read this, I would like to confirm (so you won't have to argue back at me) that I would personally would like to make this review anonymous, hence I am not using my real name for safety reasons and I will only be giving the name of the room I completed as I believe providing the date and time is uneccessary.
The main point I would like to address about the rooms is the quality. I have enjoyed many escape rooms since I was young, and watching them evolve over time, I liked to see how the rooms expand with new technology and ideas. I believe Escape Hunt has remained in the past with the rooms, as the room I had done wasn't that immersive and some of the puzzles were a bit illogical.
I had played the Aladdin room (which I think is fairly new from what I had heard) and although the idea of the room was nice, I was just a bit underwhelmed from what I had expected from going to other escape rooms in Perth.
First of all, too many locks and combinations, half of which didn't really make any sense. The flow of the room was just a little off, and when we entered the room, a prop wasn't working, which I didn't really care about as the staff came in and offered us 20 minutes extra time (a bit excessive since I was only in there for 10 minutes), I was more concerned that they didn't even know which puzzle we were working on and looked a bit panicked (maybe they were new?). I can confirm from this, that the staff were probably not watching and monitoring that there was an error in the room, as we had to call them ourselves and even walk out of the room. I could recall there was around 3 staff working in the shop at that time.
I would also like to comment on the noise within the room. The walls were pretty thin as I could hear the voices next door. I could recommend some background music to get rid of the noise? I just don't think this escape room establishment is well maintained at all in my opinion.
The place would've been good about 5 years ago, but since it's now 2023, improvements need to be done to be on the same level as other escape rooms I've done, considering pricing for escapes rooms like this and others are relatively the same.
Would not recommend this place until the rooms have been upgraded to be on par with the rest of Perth's escape rooms.
Also, owner, if you do reply to this email, please don't reply with an attitude like you have done for others, don't even reply at all, as this should be taken as criticism and not a public argument. I just wanted to truthfully share my experience and provide feedback with the public about the escape...
Read moreAs an Escape room veteran and have been to many escape rooms, I can say this is one of the worst I've been to. Been here twice and both times either things didn't open when completed or just puzzles not working properly. Also feels like most their puzzles are unimaginative and overuse of locks, and papers which requires lots of reading instead of the implementation of interactive puzzles. One of the puzzle we did, made literally no sense and it's one of those when the "right answer" was revealed to us, we were still left in confusion as to how is this even the right answer.
To sum it up, we have few puzzles which didn't pop open when completed, game masters had to come in and open the box for us multiple times. Then we have a simple puzzle we couldn't complete, because it was pure illogical and we can argue that the "right answer" was actually wrong. To top it off, we had a lock safe which didn't reset properly and we found a key prematurely.
I've done enough rooms to know these issues aren't just one off and it's been going on for awhile, we're definitely not the only customers who experienced this. The only "perk" they provided was pretty much the extra time for you when something doesn't work, almost feels like it's happening so much that it became a common knowledge in the workplace that the puzzles don't work all the time and allowing extra time is their go-to protocol to make their customers feel better, instead of improving the game flow and fix what's broken in the room. It's obvious this place lacks heavily on management and the rooms are so run down that you can tell there's no maintenance involved at all.
It's outrageous they even priced it at $47/pp for such low quality rooms, which led me to believe they only care about the $$ instead of the user experience. Steer away from here and there're way better...
Read morepoor customer service. I booked via the website and apparently the computer "didn't record it" - even though it showed as booked at the time. travelling 90 minutes to get there, and told - "oh sorry". I did get a follow up response from the owner, telling me how the outlet has seen over 50000 clients - which I very much doubt. He also then proceeded to tell me I couldn't have travelled 90 minutes as I "booked" (but he says I didn't book) only 40 minutes before arrival. This is not true. Actually I booked the week before. And I do not like the attitude of being told I am lying in one instance, and then (funny), being told I didn't book, and then saying he could see my booking. The staff member was not rude at the venue, they just didn't know what to do, and obviously had no authority. The owner also proceeded to tell me how I arrived angry and shouting. Not true. I arrived for a great time, and sat on the couch and waited for the reception to clear before handing in my voucher. why on earth would I be angry when I arrived? Angry when I left, yes - defo not when I arrived.
All in all the experience was good when we returned another day, but the lack lustre service, inability of "management" (young inexperienced staff) etc leaves a great deal to be desired and I would strongly suggest the owner goes on some leadership and business courses if he wants the business to flourish in the future, as competition will become strong, and things like this can kill a business. Good luck but you won't see me again - I'll go elsewhere. Oh, one last thing, the owner told me I should know how it worked as I had been there before - I haven't...
