I've wanted to try Tonic and Ginger as I heard it's new in town and good google reviews at 4.6 stars. I was here for a birthday celebration. The wait staff were friendly and greeted us at the entrance. This restaurant has such beautiful light decoration, but it's a bustling restaurant. I am still adapting post-COVID to sit close together to the person next to me, who I don't know. I've decided to give the feed me menu a try and also ordered a glass or Processco and a glass or Point noir. Lime cured scallop salad, coconut yoghurt, curry oil, crispy garlic. This dish was delicious. ( I doubt this dish was in the feed me menu as I had been charged extra, we didn't look at the receipt until we got home.) The dishes that came out of the feed me the menu was: Steamed chicken and Chinese cabbage dumplings, chilli vinegar, it's so delicious, we would like to order it next time when we return. Sesame prawn brioche toast, wasabi, chive and black sesame, minimal prawn meat found in the toast. Green papaya salad, chilli, coriander, tamarind, a generous serving of this dish. Massaman curry, braised ox cheek, shallot, Kipfler potato, this dish is on the sweeter side which I don't recall Massaman curry is sweet at all. Dry yellow curry of hapuka, snake beans, garlic stem, crispy sambal, this dish is very delicious, and we both enjoyed it. Steamed jasmine rice The dessert platter was fabulous, there was the pandan panna cotta, salted caramel slice, passion fruit sorbet, tofu cheesecake and the chocolate ice cream. I will have to say that this restaurant can cater for big groups. It will be suitable for a dinner catch up with a considerable...

This place was so lovely to eat lunch at!

Me and my friend went here on a Wednesday to have lunch.

The menu has four sections for savoury foods. Bites, Grazing, Feasting and of course Sides. Each one increases in size and price. You can also do a feed me option for $72 per person! (They also had a page for hot drinks and dessert!)

I ended ordering two items from the Bites section, the chicken bao buns and the pork potstickers. The bites came out pretty quickly but they where small, the pork potstickers only had two but were very delicious with a juicy middle and a crispy outside . The chicken bao buns were crispy with a slight sour taste from the pickles which complimented the spicy mayo.

My friend got the fire cracker cauliflower and a side of plain jasmine rice. Which came out after my two bites ( which was to be expected because of its size). It ended up being a whole head of cauliflower covered in a peanut based bang bang sauce with a sea of coconut and herb sauce surrounding it. The bang bang sauce definitely had some spice to it but the coconut helped mellow it out if you can’t handle the spice which made it nice to eat. The flavours worked so well together and the rice just helped fill it out more as a meal. Although it was a vegetarian and gluten free meal (excluding the side of rice) it was a very filling and delicious meal!

Although it was a bit expensive it was definitely worth it for the food and the amazing atmosphere of the restaurant with its decor and seating area.

Next time I will definitely have to try more food including the desserts and try...

First time going to this place for my partners birthday. At first when we went in had lovely service from the servers & straightaway had water & asked if we wanted any drinks or starters.

Ordered quite a decent amount of food, drinks & desserts (spent about $450 for 5)

From what I recall that was positive : All the drinks were fantastic, not a complaint for any of them, all fresh & delicious. banana lamington was so great as a dessert! Loved that. all the sauces for the dishes had nice twists with herby undertones & umami majority of meals were cooked great the fried chicken was a stunning dish, so juicy & crispy with that honey glaze. atmosphere & aesthetic was nice as it is a historical monument with a modern twist. cleanliness was good, server wiped our table.

From what I recall that was not so positive : ordered the T-bone steak which was way too chewy, the meat was cooked perfect medium rare but perhaps wasn’t tenderised ? I have included a circled photo as the assorted Icecream had 2 black hairs … I only noticed after taking a picture & there was an eyelash hair & another underneath the Icecream ! Which was about a fringe length of hair. Aside from that we didn’t want to trouble anyone & ate around it. parking isn’t accessible especially at night which they can’t control anyway. service went astray after a while as we had to wait which...
