Today I called in to this magnificent looking pub and was greeted by a lovely bar lady with a smile and nice welcome, it's always the first impressions that count, I was offered recommendations on drinks and I was easily able to order a Mexican chicken burger, with a chirpy "great choice!" And will go well with the pale ale you chose! I wandered the old pub admiring the decor, chandeliers, the painting over the fireplace until I finally settled near the stag head on the wall and blazing wood fire, yes it was a tad chilly outside but this pub warmed the coffers, I heard the bar lady talking to the people behind me and she noticed me and let me know mine was on its way. Well I gotta say this was a Mexican chicken burger I wasn't expecting! Wow, is all I can say! Definitely a meal to share with another, a mind blowing burger that just had so many layers with a not too spicy creamy sauce. The side of chips were just divine and was way too much for 1 person. Cost of Mexican burger and chips was $24 and my beer $8.50, definitely a 10 out 10 for service, food, and atmosphere.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Great Central Hotel in Glen Innes for the second time, and it was a remarkable experience. I ordered the crispy skinned salmon in creamy garlic sauce, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The first time I tried it, I thought it was too good to be true, but last night, during my second visit, my taste buds were in for a delightful explosion. Drew, the chef, is truly amazing at his craft. The dish was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were exceptional. I also want to commend Suga, Charlie, and the rest of the staff for providing top-notch service. The quality of the food, the cocktails, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant make it a must-visit spot in Glen Innes. I highly recommend Great Central Hotel for a memorable dining experience.

I only dined here so can't comment on the accommodation, but the dinner I had here was tasty, nicely cooked, well presented, country town pub food. The size of my dish was more than enough for a decent appetite, but just to make sure I also had a side order of onion rings 😁 (which seemed freshly cooked). What I managed to devour didn't disappoint and was a reminder that there are a lot of really good eateries to be found in Australia's country towns. The bar area had a friendly, rustic atmosphere and played host to a few locals, as well as some helpful staff. So drop by this watering hole if you're in the mood for a hearty meal and / or some fine local beer 🍺.

Where do i start. Mmm. The Service was subpar. It took 15 minutes to put in a order. 45 minutes for the Appetisers to come out. The bottle of wine we order was vinegar, which they did change without any Issue. The wine list needs a touch of someone whonhas knowledge about wine. When the wine was given to us, the lid was still on the bottle we had to open it ourselves. We also were served dirty wine glasses (lipstick staines on 3. This was for two customers)

The menu is outdated with the first four options being parmies and schnitzels, no salads, pasta dishes, grilled chicken or gluten free options besides red meat. This is obviousof a Chef who has no say over their menu, or has lost all interest in cooking.

When the appetisers came they where thrown at the table. We where give no Plates or cutlery or napkins as this was to share.

The main was steak the was order Medium rare And came out medium well. We ordered mushrooms gravy, which never came, we where given gravy instead. When we ask where the mushroom gravy was they said they had run out and said they mixed the last of the mushrooms with the gravy. The steak was a very poor cut of meet and for $39 it should have been better than cube roll.

Dessert did bring up the meal , the chocolate moose was divine, the cheesecake was not bad. But the waiter who delivered it decided to serve it to us with soup spoons. Which only makes me wonder what they are using to serve the soup with.

We stayed and had a drink or two, after dinner. We asked the young Waitress to clear our table and we asked nicely if it could be wiped down. Which she gave us a drity chucks cloth and walked away so that we had to clean it ourselves. After spending $200 on dinner and drinks, one would think that you won't have to clean up after yourselves. The chucks remaind with us for the rest of the night, we named him chucky. But the young waitress made it very clear that we worked for her.

I will say that the waitress Ayesha went out of her way to help us. She was amazing with changing the bottle of wine. And her service was well above other stuff.

The bathroom need a real good clean. You can put as much Carrara marble on the walls as you want, but if you dont mop the...

I came down from Brisbane for a long weekend, stayed at the GCH & was extremely happy with that decision... I didn't want to go home! The old Hotel is progressively being given a new lease on life but holding onto it's beautiful heritage charm. The Pipe & Drum pub shows off its celtic roots & is your good ol' country pub with the locals, the workers & the travellers. The Coffee Central cafe is a warm, and relaxing space - while I was there for my late breakfast (all that fresh country air and a great bed to sleep in) there was a small group of ladies passing through, having already had breakfast and were now moving onto morning tea and struggling to choose between the cake selection - must admit I did think of skipping breakfast & going straight for them myself (not today but I did definately have my chance). The dining rooms were also very lovely BUT the food!!! It was devine!! Still your typical staple pub selections, but a few others and chef's specials thrown in to keep it interesting. The Roast Pork. This was amazing! The meat so tender, the crackling perfect and the veggies were a plenty! I did say WOW aloud when the plate came to my table & a little embarrassed by my outburst was relieved when I heard other patrons do the same. I was happy to hear that the owners have sourced what they could from local suppliers for produce, meat, beer & wine, which for these country communites I think is the best thing. My room was clean & tidy, the matress was excellent (always a bugbare for me when staying away), the bathroom - although shared was always kept clean. So all in all it definately lives up to its name of being a great hotel/country pub - lovely, welcoming & accommodating staff, delicious food I ate way too much of and the overall feel of this great lil charm on the main street... I'll be back for sure - next time when all the open fires are burning. Thank you for...

Decided to have dinner here . Few issues young lady behind the counter if she wasn't throwing her hands in the air she was being nasty at the young waitress with a few f-bombs yes we know your busy but omg really ..t he meals were lovely and taste wise was 100% well what we got daughter got half and meal and waited 30 mins for the other half mmm . 1 hour for a kids drink . .. mean while the young lady was still throwing her hands in the air like every one was an issue ... the daughter was so over her after the meal she wanted to leave . But then came along 2 of the most wonderful bar staff I have ever come across .. Jordan and the older gentleman couldn't of been more helpful nothing was a problem . They went above and beyond to help us out . Jordan took it upon himself to help us and fix the issues even if little miss was yelling at him ... I one bad in counter shouldnt turn ppl off ... but i have to say the meals were worth it in the end and because of the 2 bar staff that made us feel so welcome in the end we were the last to leave ... And it would be a great injustice if you ever lost the best staff that you have.. young Jordan and the other guy . We will be back for...
