I was thrilled that Nerang finally had a Japanese café and was looking forward to trying their Matcha.
When I walked into the café, I found myself lost in awkwardness... there's no one greeting. And eventually found a quiet staff in front of the counter. Hospitality wasn't the best compared to most of café in Australia.
I really like the environment. Can choose indoor or outdoor. Table setting wasn't too crowded. It's a plus.
Order Ice matcha latte with coffee jelly and omurice with cheese also matcha cream puff.
Meals served amazingly fast.
The food was disappointing. Matcha latte with coffee jelly wasn't too sweet, but coffee jelly didn't have coffee flavour. Matcha had lost its bitterness. Omurice, I was pleased that the egg was really fluffy. However, omurice tasted really plain. Usually tomato sauce is to add some flavour so your pallet doesn't tired of the omurice. Unfortunately, tomato sauce didn't do its work here today. In fact, It didn't have the acidity that it supposed to have. Matcha cream puff was soggy..
Overall, I love café hunting. This is a different experience. I will definitely give it another shot. Hopefully, everything will improve next...

The cafe is spacious, clean, plenty of room with spaces to sit inside or out. You order at the counter from a menu or select from a refrigerated cabinet. The menu has the best selection although the cabinet did display some lovely looking sweet things and a few wraps. The service was friendly and the food appeared pretty quickly after ordering. I had the Teriyaki chicken with rice, my partner had the Omurice which is a savoury rice topped with an omelette. The meals were beautifully presented and the food was tasty. We also had coffees; a matcha latte and a cappuccino. The matcha latte was certainly different with a strong herbaceous taste but it felt "good" in a healthy way. There appeared to be no vegetarian options at all with even the salads containing chicken. Which is a shame as we would definitely be back if such an option existed. A great addition to the eating options in Nerang with not only takeaway and sit in options available but phone in orders and delivery...
Read moreAuthentic Japanese meals, desserts, and drinks. Really yummy. I ordered the Benedict’s egg with bacon and sourdough. The bacon wasn’t too salty that took away the taste of the whole dish, while I could still taste the mayo(?) sauce, spinach and eggs. The eggs were properly cooked, the egg yolk was cooked perfect, not too hard, not too raw. Nice plating too. The matcha latte was so cute I love the latte art so much🥹 and also tasted really nice I’m surprised haha. They definitely used matcha instead of green tea power, and the milk portion was also well balanced with the matcha, not too milky, and not too bitter. I had an iced latte the first time I went there and it was really good too. My Japanese friend ordered curry omelette rice. She gave a 9 out of 10 score for the dish! The environment was very nice, despite limited seats available. The desserts look so good. I will definitely try some...
