Depot Cafe & Lounge has a lovely warm and inviting vibe. We would totally recommend this place for an excellent breakfast.
----Decor---- The decor features a tropical industrial vibe that reflects the gold coast effortlessly. The chairs are whimsically mismatched and comfortable and the various hanging plants will encourage all nature lovers to appreciate. Industrial features include cement columns, exposed piping and black iron detailing. The cutlery is clean and the serving ware is complimentary aesthetically to your meal. There are beautiful pops of complimentary colors and fantastic wall murals to enjoy. Spot on music playlist to accompany your dining experience. It features old favourites, chill bangers and unplugged remixes. Its energetic to spice up your morning but not loud so as to not hear your conversation.
----Food----
Depot Cafe proudly boasts their use of Silipo coffee. It is aromatic and well blended especially in a dirty chai latte. The hot chocolate is nice but their strength lies in their coffee.
We tried a breakfast special that featured smashed jalepenos and peas on 2 sourdough slices topped with 2 healthy portions of grilled halloumi and 2 perfectly poached eggs. Portion was fantastic.
We also had a simpler breakfast of scrambled eggs and sourdough toast. 2 pieces of sourdough and the eggs were cooked perfectly, steaming hot on arrival. Served with an incredibly refreshing and tasty tomato relish. 2 serves of butter were given for the toast which was very much appreciated for the butter lover here!
Overall, the meals were exactly what we were looking for with a few tasty and new additions. 5/5
----Service----
The staff are so friendly and upbeat but not annoyingly chipper first thing in the morning. They took our order perfectly with everything correct (including a lactose free milk request) and served it with a smile. They brought our meals up to the loft with a smile and then left us to enjoy.
Very welcoming from all staff members. Its clear they like it here and like working here. It is a good reflection of the cafe and would definitely encourage me to come again.
---Price---
For our meals and drinks we spent $30 which is very good for the value of the food and that excellent coffee.
One can expect to pay between $25-$40...
Read moreWere travelling down the coast for a few days and decided to stop by Depot cafe for brekkie! Free street parking was available and plenty of inside seating. Staff were pretty friendly and accommodating, even though the wait queue for takeaway was long on the weekday morning.
Vibe of the cafe really nice, we loved the bright decor and seating. It was although really quiet, as it was empty where we sat upstairs and little music could be heard. No table service, so ordered downstairs- we received our meals and coffees really quick.
We ordered the pancakes and Classic Benedict with bacon. For coffees we got one iced vanilla latte and a cappuccino. The pancakes were presented really nice, and tasted great- but the texture of them was pretty hard and thick. For the price, I expected it to come with ice cream or more toppings. The eggs Benedict was as per the menu title, a ‘classic’. Taste was pretty standard as is in most cafes. The cappuccino was strong but I really enjoyed it yet he iced vanilla latte was sour, which was a bit disappointing.
Overall, we quite enjoyed our time at Depot. In my honest opinion, I didn’t think anything stood out to me as really special. Although, everything was satisfactory and the service was great. We could see ourselves returning if we lived in the area, and recommend to...
Read moreQuite disappointed at the food, we are locals and wanted to try something new. Saw this brunch place with a 4.7 review so thought we’d give it a try. Disappointment is what we had, we were starving so we tried to finish the dishes, my partner didn’t finish his because some ingredients were cold.
We had a big breakfast (can’t remember the name) and a classic eggs Benedict. The bread with the eggs Benedict was quite soggy, felt like it was frozen then microwaved. You don’t get any bread aroma from it, the whole dish felt ‘wet’ because of this bread. I also didn’t understand the excessive amount of sesame seeds on top.
The big breakfast was quite incomplete, like all the ingredients were chucked onto the plate without a combining ingredient such as a sauce, or a saucy ingredient like baked beans. One of the hash browns were COLD, both of them weren’t cooked enough, was just lightly golden, not golden brown.
Hot choc was standard, banana smoothie was made with banana syrup and was way too sweet.
The waiter came up with our drinks and food, then literally was yelling out the item names because he couldn’t find which table it was. This happened to other tables as well, what’s the point of our table number then?
These issues can be fixed and hopefully...
