Good proper Chinese food good for a casual meal or even special night out... Special attention to presentation, good cocktails and drink options.. I especially liked the salt and pepper prawns which had a bed of lettuce = salad with crispy garlic goodness! Staff could do with some training though... A bit 'clinical'
Update: 2nd visit upgraded to 5 stars.. tried a few other dishes..really good food that can't be faulted. You couldnt get better, proper Cantonese food within 30 mins drive.
I think they need to change the name though. The name SUPERWOK drums up thoughts of bastardised fast food and really doesn't do it justice.. probably turns away the very people that would appreciate this type of food!
Update: downgraded to 3 stars đ whenever Iâm in the GC, I always look forward to coming here however I think next time Iâll give it a miss. The Service hasnât changed. Staff are still clinical and most of them donât really seem like they donât really care either.. We asked for empty rice bowls so we could share and they didnât have any! They only had small plate like flat bowls. What chinese restaurant doesnât have empty rice bowls? They provide chopsticks but then you eat from a plate?? They must have a good laugh at everyone trying to do this.
The fried noodles and beef/lettuce fried rice are still good, and to be honest, some of the best Iâve had however, the Salt-N-pepper prawns were over battered and tasteless, completely different to before. But the dish that completely did my head in was the braised pork belly with broccoli. It came out as one whole piece which was a pain to cut up (not how itâs served traditionally) and based on the flavour it was probably cooked in a sous vide, bagged and frozen and then when ordered microwaved and covered in a watery sweet sauce. Safe to say, it didnât taste great and we didnât eat it. For $27 itâs...
Read moreIs it possible for one staff member to ruin your night? At Super Wok in Coomera, the answer is unfortunately yes.
Iâve been to Super Wok more than a dozen times over the years â the food has always been exceptional, and the younger staff (especially Jillian, who used to work at Bam Bam downstairs) were always warm and welcoming.
After moving away for over a year, I returned with two friends, excited to show them the place Iâd been raving about. Instead, we were met by a tall man who now seems to run the floor â hands down the most arrogant and unfriendly person Iâve encountered in a restaurant. No greeting, no smile, just a flat âdo you want a table?â like we were an inconvenience. Menus were dropped on the table, no drink offer, and when we finally got drinks, no one noticed when they were empty.
He badgered us to order mains before weâd even finished our entrees, then vanished when we actually needed service. The whole vibe was âeat, pay, leave,â despite us arriving at 7:20 pm and them closing at 9.
When I asked to speak to a manager to give feedback, he smugly said there was no one in charge and the boss would be in âtomorrow.â His sarcasm and smugness were off the charts.
The food is still great, and the younger staff are lovely â but as long as this guy is here, Iâll be telling people to eat anywhere else in the centre. He has truly earned this one-star review for all his efforts on the night of our...
Read moreI visited this restaurant around 1 PM on July 8, and it was one of the worst dining experiences Iâve had in a long time. While the food was decent, the staffâs attitude was shockingly rude and completely unacceptable.
The man at the counter â possibly the manager or the ownerâs son â spent the entire time glued to his phone, showing zero interest in the customers. When I approached to place an order, he didnât even bother to come over â he just stared at us from a distance and said, âWhat?â
Even more unbelievable: after we paid and were leaving, not a single âthank youâ was offered. Instead, we were met with a look and body language that essentially said, âJust get out.â
Another tall staff member responded with a curt âStill have!â and walked away when we politely asked to replace the empty gas canister on our hot pot burner. No follow-up. No assistance. Just plain disrespect.
To the owner: Fire your staff. All of them. Especially the ones whoâve been there the longest â theyâre the ones destroying your business from the inside. Your food may be good, but the people who represent your restaurant are absolutely ruining its image. No business survives long-term with that kind of service. Think very...
