I’ve been coming into this bakery twice a week for the past 6 weeks including Saturdays to buy a meat & veg pastie, which are fantastic x the way as are all of their products, however I’m disappointed every single time to be told“ I’m sorry, we only make pasties on Thursday” to which I reply “can someone tell the baker that you are running out of pasties in 2 days”.The follow up response the next time i visit is “oh but we only make them on Thursday “ Da, this is what the hospitality industry, McDonalds etc included has been reduced to, 15 year olds who don’t care being the face of businesses across the land. There, my rant all over the elusive bloody pastie, & i'll add i dont normally post reviews but if i dont tell the owners of the business when the saff are obviously not passing it on how will they know? i'm hoping this post finds its way to the owners :)🥲 This is a second post, these people don’t get it… I went in to buy a pastie again today & got the standard line of……. Oh, we only make pasties on Thursday. What a joke & very disappointing for what is otherwise great baker. I suspect the owners no longer have a great deal to do with the day to day operation of the business & the staff don’t give a toss 🤔
**UPDATE, the owner paid lipservice by aknowledging my complaint however they still run out of pasties 3 or 4 days after every thursday so they obviously dont really care. Its a simple matter of carrying some in refridgeration & pull out daily but thats obvoiusly too hard. I would like to reiterate this store make great food that I highly recomend so im not canning the store just the managents lack of motivation to please their customers with a simple practice of having popular...
Read moreSecond time here, first time was not bad, pastries were delicious but grossly overpriced and service was rushed and with limited customer care despite not being busy.
Then second time I got a pain au chocolat and a coffee at 6:30 in the morning on a Thursday.
The server asked me if I wanted the pain au chocolat warmed up, and I asked why, and if the pastry was fresh (to wich a lady behind the counter gave me a bad stare), and was told it had been freshly baked.
So I said I didn't want it warmed up, and when I started to eat it, it felt stale, not fragrant/crunchy and at ambient temperature.
Also, the coffee was ordered with an extra shot of espresso and it was very weak.
I took the coffee and pain au chocolat back and explained that the pastry didn't feel fresh, to which I was told that it had been baked in the previous two hours and then refrigerated, which I did not question, but I found very weird. I asked why wouldn't you warn the customer about that, so they can get the pastry warmed up, but the lady I talked to (presumably the owner or a manager) said they don't bother telling customers that they put pastries like croissants, pain au chocolat etc in a refrigerated display cabinet for some reason, and just ask customers if they want them warmed up; quite odd.
I ended up leaving most of the pastry and the coffee on the counter as it was not enjoyable.
I've grown up in a country known for great pastry making (Italy) and lived in Australia for 10 years, I've never seen something like this in my life, why on earth would you refrigerate a pastry such as a croissant or pain au chocolat straight away, in winter, and at the same time not care about customers and their experience, and...
Read moreThe morning chill had me searching for a cozy spot, and I found it at Horners Bakery & Pastries. Tucked just off the highway, it's a hidden gem that feels worlds away from the passing traffic. It's the perfect little cove to escape the hustle and bustle. I stepped inside and was greeted by the warm scent of freshly baked goods and the rich aroma of Byron Bay Coffee Company coffee. The cafe itself is adorable, with a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to settle in. My coffee was exactly what I needed on that cool winter morning—hot, flavorful, and a great start to the day. While I only stopped for a coffee, the display cases full of pastries and baked goods were tempting. I'll definitely be back to try some of their treats and soak in the charming ambiance. If you're looking for a peaceful detour and a great cup of coffee, Horners is a...
