On November 8th my family visiting from Japan and I were looking for a place to have a nice dinner after a long day of driving from Armidale to the Gold Coast. We walked to Goccia Pizzeria and I waited to get the attention of one of the staff members. I politely asked the man who was managing the table service if there was a table for four and he abruptly said: "Do you see a table for four here?". I said "uhm..ok" but the answer left me perplexed. While this was happening a couple sitting at a nearby table overheard the conversation and said: "They can have our table, we are about to leave". The man again responded abruptly: "No, it is ok", the couple insisted and he said again: "No........I have another reservation". So, I said thanks and walked away......... (I felt quite embarrassed as my visitors did not understand what was happening). As I was walking away and trying to explain to the family that we needed to look for another option, the man quickly rushed to me and said: "But we have takeaway, you can order". Needless to say, I was already put off by the way I was treated, so I said "thanks" and left. I lived in Melbourne many years and the experience I have with Italian restaurants was always that they will run the extra mile to get your business and be great hosts. However for Goccia on that particular night, they missed the hospitality completely as I felt discriminated against. Finally, this is not the kind of service that I expect from any restaurant, so I hope they can train their staff members to improve their...
Read moreFantasitc and authentic Italian food. Top quality ingredients imported from Italy and cooked by real Italian hands following the original recipe.
The Pizza is by far the best you can find on the Gold Coast. Food is to die for too. The Sicilian chef is a master of not only pasta but also the beef carpaccio is amazing, any kind of risotto and salads. The desserts are amazing and I especially recommend the Panna Cotta and the Tiramisu’. Great wine selection in particular from the Veneto region but if you like red I’d recommend the Rosso di Montepulciano from Tuscany.
Very generous Spritz and Negroni made to perfection are also in my recommendations list.
The service is top notch and a friendly environment overall where guests have the chance to get to talk to each other. We regularly come to Goccia and we even made some new friends in here.
Perfect for young families with kids but also for couples looking for a nice and intimate place for a nice dine & wine night out.
Make yourself a favour and try this place. Highly...
Read moreWe started and ended our week long holiday meals at this restaurant because it was that good! We had Georgia as our beautiful waitress on both occasions and she was the loveliest most attentive person (having said that, the other waitresses and the owner himself were also very attentive and welcoming). She checked on us often enough with a smile and such a warm personality.
We had the beef carpaccio (a MUST), the pappardelle ragu, and some pizzas. and the tiramisu - all were amazing! The portions were great, such good value for money. They are also very accommodating to customisations. My partner's son wanted a Rita pizza (margarita) with mild salami on it, and vanilla ice-cream for dessert - both of which weren't explicitly on the menu.
The music was also beautiful - jazzy, mid-tempo, nothing too loud or too slow.
HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Booking is a MUST as they are very popular for...
