This morning was our first time visiting this café and unfortunately, it will be our last. We decided to try somewhere new, but we were incredibly disappointed by the way we were treated—especially as customers simply trying to enjoy a quiet breakfast with our baby in a pram.
After being welcomed inside by one of the staff, we had just settled in when the owner abruptly intervened and told the staff member, in front of us, that we were not allowed inside due to “insurance” reasons related to having a child in a pram. There were no signs anywhere stating that children or prams weren’t allowed inside, and our pram was neatly tucked against the wall, completely out of the way. The whole situation was confusing and upsetting, especially when the owner yelled at the staff member for letting us in, rather than handling the matter calmly or respectfully.
They attempted to move us outside, but only changed their tune when we said we’d rather leave and go somewhere more accommodating. At that point, the owner quickly backtracked and insisted we could stay after all. This flip-flopping left us feeling very unwelcome and uncomfortable.
We asked for our money back and said we’d go elsewhere, and again the tone suddenly changed—as if our business only mattered once we said we’d take it elsewhere. This inconsistency and lack of professionalism really tainted the whole experience.
To add to the disappointment, the food itself was underwhelming. The portions were surprisingly small and certainly didn’t live up to the name or the price.
All in all, a deeply disappointing visit. Hospitality should start with respect, and that was...
Read moreUpon arrival we were greeted with a nice smile and seated, that’s where the good customer service stopped. We were seated for about 10 minutes before my partner went to the register to place an order and a woman (who we now know is the owner) with a raised voice asked what he was doing and rudely told him to sit back down and that she would come take our order. Initially I confirmed the meal and the hash browns were both vegan and she confirmed yes. The order was reconfirmed and I then confirmed the feta on the avocado smash was vegan she then sighed and said i’ve already sent the order off and walked off. She then returned to the table to place our cutlery down and then stated that I needed to make it VERY CLEAR again in a raised voice that I needed the meal to be vegan. I then repeated that both my partner and I’s meal was to be vegan. She again sighed. I explained that based on the menu advising it was vegan and my initial questioning that the order was vegan, i was under the assumption the order placed would have been a vegan meal. She responded “Well you can’t assume here”. My partner then requested to be served by someone else and was refused and told “I’m the owner”. My partner and I then decided at that point that this was not a business we wanted to support (especially during...
Read moreThis cafe was a huge letdown. When I ordered, I asked the staff member a few questions about the dessert and was told it was a “cake” and suitable for my toddler. What we were given was a dense raw slice which is definitely not something I would’ve shared with her if they'd been honest and clear when asked. It also cost $13, which is ridiculous for something pulled out of a freezer.
Within an hour, both my toddler and I suffered food poisoning, and our weekend was completely ruined. I tried to resolve this kindly and privately, but instead of being treated with care, I was dismissed and basically accused of lying because they said the training course they did 7.5 years ago stated food poisoning doesn’t happen that fast and takes 12-24 hours after consuming.
I later learned the “cakes” aren’t fresh. They’re made in batches and frozen. Eventually they hesitantly offered a refund for the dessert. When I went in, the staff were rude and dismissive. The barista even jumped in to say she eats the slice all the time and never gets sick, as if that somehow proves we didn’t.
I left feeling very uncomfortable and completely disrespected. I...
