5/5 For Food 1/5 For RUDE Owner / Manager, This cute little french cafe happened to us on the day we were leaving Gold Coast We were in love with the decor and food of this place (minus the rude behavior, which kinda left us with mixed feelings)....And cannot stop raving about the French toast and Croissant Sandwich ....And of course the coffee and chai. The staff is quite warm and friendly (other than the mentioned gentleman). And the quality and pricing is just right for what you are served. This gentleman, the owner / manager greeted us with a 0 words when we wished him with a 'hello' the Australian standard when you are at a cafe / restaurant when a host shows up to show you a table. That did not matter. He asked us to occupy any table we want (1, a table for 4 and another for 2). All this while greeting his regulars (he knew them by their name). We occupied the table for 2 with the intention that a bigger crowd could occupy it if at all... He, very politely but sternly told us that the chair of the table we had occupied will cause him inconvenience to serve and thus either we should occupy other table or try to shift the chair little towards the table. We chose to sit on the table for 4 because it was humanly impossible for one of us to sit on the chair uncomfortably. After our coffee and chai arrived, and no sweetener / sugar on the the table, one of us got up to help ourselves, like it's the case with most of the restaurants / cafes that are busy, we hear a rude loud voice "you don't speak to them, if you want anything you tell me , not on the billing counter. What do you want", with a sense of anger. "wanted some sugar" all this while being confused about what we did wrong. "It's on the table" he replied. "it's not and thus got up to ask" one of us replied. "Oh here you go, here you go" banging it down. There was no sense of remorse or even sorry at sight. Looks like they have their regulars, and do not care for the 'tourist' a very rare but stereotyped behavior by someone who are so good that they don't care to be polite or have decency to behave cordial....Let alone understand humility. So, AVOID IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE RUDE BEHAVIOR AND SPOIL YOUR 'TOURISTY' MOOD

Lovely place to enjoy the sun and have breakfast. Had the French Toast, Fruit Toast with choice of Vegemite, Crepe Poulet. Fruit toast was rasin bread. 2 thick slices of toasted fresh bread. There was a choice of honey, Vegemite and something else I forgot..could be jam. Was abit adventurous to have a salty sweet breakfast with this combination. It's nice though. I liked it. Crepe Poulet was divine. It's simple, crispy on the sides, sliced chicken with mushrooms and smashed avo. It comes with a side of salad with honey mustard sauce. French toast comes with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, a good serving of sliced bananas and strawberries. What I liked about this dish is that it was made of not ordinary sliced bread but sliced baguette. The drizzle (or pool) of maple/honey makes this dish pretty sweet. So just take note of that. Other than that, we had 3 varies of tea. Relaxation tea, sunrise tea and Earl grey. All comes in a pot for a good serving of 2 cups each. Would come again to eat more of the menu!

I am a long-time customer and enjoy the French cafe experience every time. The garden, the music, the umbrellas, the coffee, the food, the cocktails, the cushions on a cold day, the friendliest staff on earth. I pinch myself that I am so lucky to be able to experience the wonderful Le Jardin cafe filled with French delights and being greeted with smiles. I can’t wait to continue to sip a glass of wine or coffee with a breakfast or lunch surrounded by the sweet sounds of dishes, French music and the rustling of trees. What you have created is a heaven in Tedder ave. I should mention the extra care and effort you put for creating Valentine’s Day decorations and lunch. I enjoyed Le Jardin Confit Duck and it was absolutely delightful. Congratulations and thank you to all staff for the hard work you put in to provide this unique French experience for me. Thank you

EDIT: OK, KURTIS, we know it's you replying with a whole essay to this review. If you can't take feedback, you should definitely reconsider your career choice. Don't work in hospo/front of house. Wasn't looking for a chit chat btw, just asking a direct question that you couldn't answer directly cause you don't know your products. Also dude, take some customer service response courses and GO TO THERAPY before replying publicly on a BUSINESS account. GEEZ. Who hired this guy to the run the place? Also have you read the other reviews about how people find your behaviour in the restaurant appalling towards other customers and staff? Take a breather and reflect on why I'm not the first to say so. Or choose another career with 0 customer interaction, will suit your personality better. LOL.

ACTUAL REVIEW: Food was mid, the restaurant manager Kurtis, the one with the light brown hair and beard was so rude & sarcastic. I asked about their homemade iced tea to see what it contained (typically at most cafes this means they change it seasonally so it could be peach, lemon flavored, sweetened/not, black/green tea?). He just looked at me like I was an idiot and said, “It has ice, water, and tea.” And I said, “ok, is it sweet? Does it have fruit in it?” He said, “yeah, citrus.” I said, “great, so many citruses, what kind?” “Lemon probably.” Somebody give this man a medal for stating the obvious and giving 0 care. 5 stars for the most condescending staff ever. Even more shocking that this dude of all people was the manager?! Everyone else was perfectly fine and polite except this one jerk....

Feedback: That’s pretty sneaky way changing the subject that I don’t understand Aussie’s culture when I pointed out the manager was rude. :) I’ve been living here for over 5 years and been at heaps different cafes&restaurants. So yeah I know how other hospo staffs treat their customers. All one star review talks about your poor customer service and behaviour yet you just don’t seem accepting criticisms from the customers. It’s just a shame that as a manager, you are not being able to listen to them and reflect on yourself for your business.

Original: So shocked by how rude the old man staff is. (probably a manager or boss) I and my sister went to this cafe today and were looking for a good seat for us. He followed us straight away and literally commanded us to sit here, pointing at a single-sized tiny table. There were plenty of bigger tables and it was not busy at all. I would’ve understood if he asked for our understanding saying that those tables are for the bigger groups. His tone of voice was just so aggressive..we felt absolutely disgusted and left the cafe instantly without ordering. I’ve never been treated like that at any other restaurants or cafes I have been. This man has no idea about customer service. We will...
