Nestled along the vibrant Tedder Avenue in Main Beach, Birdcage Dining Room & Garden Bar offers a culinary experience that seamlessly blends Asian fusion with European flair. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance captivates with its rich hues of red, orange, and blue, complemented by intricate filigree panels and plush velvet banquette seating, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining journey.
Our evening commenced with the Sourdough Garlic Cob, a delightful starter featuring warm, crusty bread paired with Korean cream cheese, extra virgin olive oil, and a hint of Szechuan salt. This was followed by the Oysters Kilpatrick, where the briny freshness of the oysters was perfectly balanced by crunchy bacon and a toasted parmesan crumb, offering a harmonious blend of textures and flavors.
For the main course, I indulged in the 250g Rib Eye of the Fillet Steak, expertly cooked to my preference and served with sous vide mash, potato crisps, charred shallots, and a rich shiraz jus. The steak was tender and flavorful, showcasing the chef's mastery in preparation. My partner opted for the Roast Chicken, which featured deboned half free-range chicken with crispy skin, accompanied by sous vide mash and umami sauce. The chicken was succulent and flavorful, delivering a delightful experience with each bite.
Our meal was complemented by a selection of expertly crafted cocktails, each boasting a unique blend of flavors that perfectly matched the dishes. The highlight, however, was the Oak Pinot Noir—a wine that stood out with its depth and complexity, leaving a lasting impression and ranking among the best we've had in recent times.
The service throughout the evening was impeccable. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and ensured that each course was timed to perfection, enhancing our overall dining experience.
In conclusion, Birdcage Dining Room & Garden Bar delivers on all fronts—from its inviting ambiance and innovative menu to its exceptional service and beverage offerings. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience on the Gold Coast.

Read moreI have eaten here many times option at all. Lunch menu has changed and there was no thai beef salad, in fact no salad option at all. 2nd table to be seated on a quiet lunch time and they placed us literally on top of reception desk and main pos kiosk- dozen of other more suitable tables sat empty. 1 friend couldn't even access her seat without shimminging over the other's spot first- seriously? 3.Ordered a glass of red wine (@$23 / glass) it was oxidised and smelled bad- when I asked waitress over- she was disbelieving and asked me to repeat myself. She and the bar guy and another all then made a fuss and I thought they were going to return it to me without replacement but they conceded... eventually. Upon nearing the finish of our entrees, we had 2 plates finished, 1 still "being finished" off when they were cleared away. 1 friend was literally still scraping food off the plate as it was whisked away... by none other than the manager himself! Were they short on plates? 3, maybe 4 tables were occupied by now. Speechless! With plates cleared, said manager returned with clean Napkins but recycled our cutlery... yes, set them up, used and dirty on the new Napkins. Note here: we had all had beef cappaccio (raw meat) with fish and lamb to come as our mains...not kidding. Our water glasses were often empty for extended periods i needed to wave staff down but staff were standing around chatting and doing in house training. The barramundi was dry and sauce had formed a skin indicating it had sat for some time perhaps under heat lamps but skin nevertheless When asked if we enjoyed our meal and I indicated there were concerns with service, the girl just smiled a smiled that said "I don't actually care what your saying, just say yes"...hmmm.
Now I love good food, enjoy dining out at quality restaurants and after talking this up to my friends, we finally coordinated a lunch date and I left kind of embarrassed and greatly disappointed. The Gold Coast needs good food, good restaurants AND good service - we're not a Hick seaside town any more. Lift your...
Read moreWe had the most horrible and awful experience at our 4pm booking at the bird cage Main Beach Gold Coast tonight. Our friends local residents of Main Beach invited us for a birthday afternoon celebration dinner and at the last minute one of them became extremely ill after chemotherapy treatment. The manager begrudgingly complained TWICE to us sitting at the window table for 4 at 5pm as we finished our entrees that we had to leave by 5.30pm as they had other bookings. We ordered our main course and didn’t have the time to finish our food and bottle of wine with the pressure of having to leave at 5.30pm!!. And to top off the rudeness!! After a friendly banter with the lovely family of 3 next to us, the father offered the rest of his meat dish that he couldn’t finish for my cat. I asked the manager for a takeaway container and it never arrived. When I asked the gay waiter where it was he obnoxiously said “IT IS NOT YOUR DISH TO TAKE!!” He threw it away. WHO treats customers like that! He never paid for it and it was given with kind intentions for a pet. I have never been so rudely treated in any restaurant like that before! After owning 5 restaurants in Sydney, myself and my staff know that customers are always right. They pay our wages. I will not recommend this restaurant with egotistical, rude and obnoxious service and behaviour to anyone. SHAME ON YOU FOR TREATING CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT!!! This is the worst behaviour we have ever experienced in our lives at any restaurant and the first time never leaving a 15./. Tip up to a $200 bill.. not deserving at all.. the owner needs to talk to the staff about their treatment to local customers!!! We will never return.....
