Went to have dinner tonight with my family who travelled from Brisbane. As I told them I had been regularly and had a good experience. They were dog friendly and I had visited for lunch the week before.
When we arrived I asked the female at the door (the manager Sophie) if they had a table available for us and my small dog. She looked us up and down and said no we don’t allow dogs. I explained to her I had visited many times and that I always bring my dog. She said we must have made an exception for you but we only use this table and it isn’t available tonight. Even when I proceeded to explain that I always sit at different tables outside and the staff don’t have a problem with it. she told us we couldn’t dine in the rudest manner. Turned her back and just walked away.
When we left I was so disappointed as we were really looking forward to dinner. I decided to call the manager and explain the situation. When I called and asked to speak to the manager it happened to be the woman who greeted me at the door Sophie. I explained they I had visited often with my dog and I didn’t appreciate the way she spoke to me. The latest last week, with my dog. And that the young male and female didn’t have a problem with it. Even politely giving her water. She said I’ve worked here for 10 years and we don’t allow dogs. Even though already telling me earlier they only allow dogs at one table. I asked her if she was calling me a liar as I have a recipe from last week and I can prove I had visited.
She then said BYE and hung up the phone on me.
I honestly think the manager Sophie picks and chooses who she allows into the restaurant judging by their appearance. Her whole demeanour and manner in which she speaks to customers is atrocious.
I live local and I know main beach and Tedder Ave is an extremely dog friendly location. However something has changed with this venue since the unfriendly woman has started. I called to try and explain my side of the story and was met with such a disrespectful and an unprofessional person who shouldn’t be in a manager position.
If you are looking for somewhere welcoming with good service this ISN'T THE PLACE FOR YOU! I won’t be returning and will be telling everyone local who I know...
Read moreHorrible experience Today my family and I attended the restaurant next to the ‘Senza Nome Italian restaurant’. After we were finished I made my way to Senza to see if their rest room was vacant. The waiter then directed the way. I later watched the rude waiter use a very degrading tone and tell my younger brother and sister who went in alone to use the rest room that ‘ this was not a public rest room ‘ She then continued to tell my 12 year old brother that ‘ he HAD to leave ‘ . This waiter with curly hair and glasses judged on appearance and made my siblings feel very uncomfortable. If your restaurant has a general policy that people not dining cannot use the rest room, then this rule should be consist and applied to every one not only those they deem as worthy. Prior to this, the same waiter displayed a judgmental attitude when discussing my dietary requirements. My family and I are locals. We know many friends who have dined here but I will now be sure to share this experience with others. On the other hand, Main Beach Fish Grotto was the restaurant we dined at and I would highly recommend this place with their loverly staff and welcoming...
Read moreI was expecting this place to be a little pretentious being in Main Beach, but it was far from it. Super friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and the food was absolutely superb! Went there as a group of 6, the food took a little while but everything was delicious and more than enough to feel like you got your moneys worth. I'd happily have waited longer for it and the time frame is indicative of things being made to order with love and care. I had the lamb shank and everyone else had a pasta dish. They even created a dairy free meal for one of us at the table with allergies. For desert I had the sticky date pudding which was so good I have no idea what anyone else had! I just got lost in my own world of endorphins. The food and service was better than Gemelli's in broadbeach in my opinion. I liked that it was a more cozy and intimate setting too. There's a big photo on the wall of their restaurant in Italy, with the owners. So there is no doubt of the authenticity here. What an amazing little restaurant with no name...
