Well, I've eaten at many restaurants of all genres and descriptions, including the fine dining ones. Long Tide is by far in the top 5 per cent of my long list of 'must visit' eateries. We didn't have a booking, and the place was packed out! Just as we thought our hopes were dashed, the friendly and kind manager found a table, and we were ready to eat. The service struck me as excellent and calm, considering just how busy the establishment was. The good news is, it wasn't noisy and irritating like you would have initially expected. I'll get straight to the food. Our fish dish was the grilled scallops. OMG! The flavour is incredible. My number 1 recommendation for an entry dish. We dug into a dish of prawns, and my expectations were easily met. The chefs certainly go that extra mile for both taste and presentation. We hit a couple of other main dishes, including the slow cooked beef and coconut rice. It melts in your mouth. The flavour numero uno. I could go on, but I won't. Why? Long Tide speaks for itself. After a year in operation, both the food, atmosphere, and service speak volumes to why I'll be heading there again. I did expect the bill to be substantially higher than what it was, so we were pleasantly surprised. Long Tide would take on the best of eateries on the Gold Coast. A 'must visit' restaurant....

Disappointed with the Experience

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience tonight was very disappointing. I was excited to try this restaurant after recently moving to the area, as it looked amazing. Unfortunately, the man at the front's attitude completely ruined my night.

While my waitress was lovely and accommodating, he was the complete opposite. When I politely asked to change a wine that tasted off and was undrinkable, he got upset and began to argue, insisting it was their most popular and best-selling wine. From my 10+ years in hospitality, I know that the second most expensive red wine by the glass is rarely the best seller.

I didn't want to argue and simply wanted a drinkable glass of wine. I even offered to pay for it to diffuse the situation, which he proceeded to charge me for, despite already spending $200 at the venue. The whole situation was very uncomfortable, and he was very dismissive afterward.

Unfortunately, I won't be returning. Based on other reviews, I suspect he is the owner, as I can't imagine anyone hiring someone as rude as him. It's a shame because the other staff were incredible, and the food...

Disappointed local. The restaurant was very busy and there weren't enough staff on. Usually I'm okay with this but if you're going to offer full table service, expections are to be well looked after. Especially considering how pricey it is. There wasn't even a QR code which we could order off of to take the strain off the staff. The waitress seemed rushed and overwhelmed, which in turn made us feel unwelcome and a bother. (Understandably as they sat 5 tables in her section in under 5 minutes) The menu is chaotic and hard to understand. They've mixed in entrees and mains together all over the place, so it's difficult to understand how much you're ordering. Again, more staff to take the time to discuss the menu would have helped here. The music was far too loud where we were seated and because of this most tables by us were yelling which made it even more unbearable. Once we got the bill they had overcharged us by 2 extra cocktails and 3 extra beers. Overall, very...

Longtide in Runaway Bay was an absolutely lovely experience! The wait staff were solid—friendly, efficient, and attentive—and the range of Asian dishes on offer was beautifully curated. The crispy chilli eggplant was a standout for me—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The diversity of the menu was exciting, and I found myself wanting to try so many more dishes, but there was no way I could fit anything else in! One suggestion: given how varied and tempting the menu is, I’d love to see them offer an izakaya/tapas-style option with smaller dishes to share. It would be a perfect way to explore even more of their amazing dishes. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. I’ll definitely be back!

Romantic Valentines Dinner with great food, fantastic warm service from the South American male staff member, we will definitely be back. Singapore Chilli Prawns were amazing, the duck spring rolls juicy and generous, the chicken satay was yummy as were all the dishes by the lookes of other patrons dinners and the desserts were delectable. We had three entrees and desserts. It was very nostalgic for us as we held our wedding reception there under the previous banner, it is a local gem and worth visiting and supporting. Nice not to have to drive to Broadbeach for a lovely meal.
