Ah, Taco Bell. The name alone brings a whirlwind of emotions. As a man who’s been bound by an endless cycle of your tantalizing, yet treacherously unpredictable offerings, I find myself caught in a paradoxical dance with your cuisine. Each visit starts with high hopes and hungry anticipation. My wife, bless her heart, has developed a taste for your Crunchwraps and burritos that rivals any love affair. I, the ever-dutiful husband, find myself sacrificing my gastrointestinal well-being to satisfy her cravings. “This time,” I tell myself, “it will be different.” Each time, I’m met with the same catastrophic outcome: a relentless bout of diarrhoea that leaves me questioning my life choice leading up to this moment, including getting married. Your food is a siren song to the senses; alluring, yet so dangerously deceptive. I keep coming back, driven by the hope that perhaps today will be the day my digestive system defies the odds and survives unscathed. But alas, my aspirations are repeatedly dashed. In sum, Taco Bell, you are a culinary enigma. You offer moments of pure bliss wrapped in an digestive turmoil. For those brave enough to tread this treacherous path, I salute you. For me, the cycle continues, ever hopeful for that elusive day of triumph. So, here's to you, Taco Bell. May you continue to tempt, tease, and torment, and may my next visit finally end on a high note; preferably one where my stomach isn’t plotting...
Read moreI went to the Southport Taco Bell with some friends and had a very disappointing experience there. Despite it being around 2pm and almost completely empty, we had to wait 10 minutes to be served because the staff - despite seeing us - didn’t come over to serve us. The young staff taking our offer weren’t friendly or apologetic either (although not unkind), and when we went back up to add a drink to our order we had to wait another 10 minutes to get served. The food itself was sloppy and poorly put together - despite the empty restaurant, the meals seemed rushed and stingy, like they were giving us the bare minimum amount of taco to still be able to market it as a meal. The only upside to the whole experience was that my friends and I got to choose all the music over Crowd DJ, because the restaurant was too unbelievably empty to suffer music choices from any other customers. I honestly have never left a negative review on any business before, but the food here is sub-par and not worth the money, and the young staff require much better training and experience before they should be left to handle the restaurant. Once this is all improved I’m looking forward to coming back, as the set up is nice & I’m hoping the Taco Bell franchise will have success...
Read moreWell. This was a bit of a cluster. It is in the first week of opening but things need major improvements. The car park/ entrance is confusing and dangerous and needs to be altered as it does not work when 5 or 6 cars are queded for drive through. (All the time.)
When you do get close you will be standing outside for 20 mins as lines are out the door. Another 15 mins inside. Only one till was on at 6.30pm on a Friday night. Ordered and waited another 15 mins. Order was wrong when we were buzzed. Was asked for a receipt which we were not given. He eventually caved and another 5 minutes and the right food arrived.
Hard tacos were really tiny, but very tasty. Chips were (despite what looks like a spicy seasoning) seriously bland. Tables were not being cleared quickly (which by the way is partially the fault of customers who could help by not leaving their tables looking liked an exploded toilet).
I love Taco Bell and ate regularly there in the USA, but this, the service, the tiny menu (no breakfasts), and the chaos to eat is not building brand loyalty. I managed large restaurants for 5 years, so have some perspective. Hopefully things get better but no other branches have improved either ...
