The Koffee Shack — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

My score is based on the Rosti Stack we ordered. We've been coming here for years but this time the food was a let down. My husband and I ordered the same meal. His came out first, warm, mine came out a few minutes later, the bacon and egg were cold and mine was missing the avocado so I had to ask for it. Their potato stack is now a cube, the centre was cold (like fridge cold), it seems like these are precooked kept in the fridge and then warmed up but not enough for the centre to heat up. My poached eggs resembled a hard boiled egg, see photo. Both my partner and I agreed that the holondaise sauce did not taste like holondaise. The upside is we were told the Rosti Stack is now GF. The cappuccino on almond milk in a mug tasted lovely but could have been hotter, was lukewarm. The new chef might want to rethink...

Unfortunately this was a terrible decision. I ordered a chai latte in a mug and received my deink in an uncleaned mug with still visible lipstick smudges that just wiped off with the swipe of a finger. That was the first strike. The next drink came in a takeaway cup when I had clearly asked for a mug so i was quite disappointed with that as well. On top of this it took over an hour to receive our meals and there was no consistency whatsoever as different sized portions of the same meal arrived for each person. Our first visit to this cafe and we will never go back! Ordered a coffee, sparkling water and banana bread. As the food was from the counter display, the barista said he could get it for us himself. The cafe was only about half full. We sat outside and the coffee arrived, but we had to ask for the other items. Ten minutes later, the water arrived and when I said we were still waiting for banana bread, the young, blonde woman snapped back with a blunt “Yes!” and a glare and walked away.
