Broken Heart Burger Club is a convenient location right near Coles at Mango Hill along with quite a few other take away shops. They’re open from 12-9pm each day.

While the menu is super simple it’s very sleek. Not much variety to choose from but it’s actually a revolutionary way to do business.

What we ordered: • Classic single with smashed onions and regular chips • Classic double with regular chips 🍟

The burgers were smashed on the grill and were super delicious with their burger sauce. They even throw the cheese on the burger while it’s still on the burner, which I just love because the cheese melts perfectly. The smashed onion was almost like a sauce itself because the onion is sliced so thinly. They use butter buns as the burger bread and the whole burger when you take a bite just melts in your mouth. The chips are cooked fresh with your burger so everything is hot and fresh. You won’t be waiting long for your food 🍔

The staff were quick to serve but none of them smiled or seemed happy to be there which is a shame because if they just get the customer service skills up there, this place has the potential to be a popular burger pit. Maybe it was just one of them days. My only feedback on this would be that staff smile a little and thank the customer for coming when leaving. Just to personalise it abit. This will make a huge difference. People often come back to places when they feel welcomed and get good service even when the food is not great.

My favourite thing about the place: the neon light is super modern and the finishing touches like the name of burger place has been abbreviated in the take away bags and the burger wrappers, which is pretty cool 😎

Highly recommend giving @brokenheartsburgerclub a go have an online booking system as well which is...

Broken Hearts do an amazing smashed burger. The patties are nicely caramelised, the burger is oozing with cheese and is, overall, super tasty. Their mozzarella sticks are divine as well.

However, the fries we ordered, while super crispy, were insanely salted. All we could taste was salt. We are unsure whether this was a one off error or not, but fries should not be that salty.

Further, we paid $90 for 4 burgers and 3 sides - a moderately expensive meal. We understand this because it's a bit of a niche restaurant; it's not easy to find good smashed burgers in Brisbane.

Further, the restaurant is self-serve for ordering (understandable), but we were then expected to get our own food once ready and clear up our own tables. The table we sat at still had condensation from some previous drinks on it, which screams that it hasn't been wiped down; an especially dangerous practise given the pandemic.

I get that a lot of pubs etc in Brisbane do the same, but for a small, niche burger joint that charges that price for food and the price we paid, the least they could do is bring out the food, clear up the trays and wipe the tables down. It's worth noting that they had 3 staff behind the counter, not all occupied at the same time.

We would still go again - the burgers were really good - but hope that the company takes on board...

In short: Yes, don't be afraid of the triple patty. Yes, you will need a sweet drink. Check the photos. They'll tell you exactly what type of burger you'll have. If you keep track of the amount of salt and nutrients for diet purposes, this is not the place for you.

I had this place saved for a while, since Beardy's closed in Kippa Ring. Finally I happened to be in the area and tried it.

It's exactly what it looks like. Not a presumptuous, fancy burger place. The menu is seriously short, and I went for the fancy double because that salad made me feel better about myself. Also, I got the grilled onions because that's how it should be.

The burgers are tasty, rich, and juicy. Yes, they will require a few napkins to clean your hands. Also, I read somewhere that they make their buns; they are not brioches, nor random mass produced rolls, and it's refreshing to see a bit of "imperfection". The chips are thin, crispy, and salty. Do yourself a favour and get a drink.

The atmosphere is simple. No cramped tables everywhere. The service was positive and effective, and they also help with your steps count, since you are welcome to clean the table autonomously.

To sum up, I wanted to indulge and get a real burger without worrying about the calories count. It did the job and made me happy....

$90 for this? Absolutely insulting. I paid $90 for two burgers, two fries, and two cans of Coke and what I received was worse than McDonald's on a bad day. The fries were soggy, unsalted, and sad. One serve was meant to be chili fries, but instead I got a plain box of limp chips with a separate tub of something resembling chili. Lazy and misleading. The burgers were greasy, falling apart, and bland, completely soaked through the paper. No care, no flavour, no structure. Their website photos looked great, but what I got looked (and tasted) like it had been stepped on. For a “premium” price, this was straight-up slop. Avoid. Don’t fall for the marketing, you’ll regret it.
