Guzman y Gomez – Morayfield — Restaurant in Greater Brisbane

I don’t know if it’s because Guzman y Gomez has become a huge franchise, but the tastes and flavourings and quality of food just aren’t like how they used to be, and this store is easily the worst they’ve ever become with their expansion. The food lacks flavouring and everytime I have paid for extras, the staff haven’t put them in my meal. The presentation is always terrible, it’s always smaller portions than normal, or a clear imbalance of rice to the rest of the ingredients. The staff don’t make it any better either, I gave it a few weeks of trying there different times to see if they would improve but if anything it has gotten worse. Guzman was never intended to be a high production, low quality fast food place like Taco Bell but that’s definitely the direction they are heading in. The staff are teenagers, with likely no prior hospitality experience and a stark difference to the generally South American employees in the city stores who are familiar with the food they’re working with. Disappointing Experience at GYG Morayfield – 13 August 2025 I recently ordered two chicken burritos and a side of chips from Guzman y Gomez (GYG) Morayfield, and unfortunately, the experience was well below expectations. Firstly, the food arrived noticeably cool — not just lukewarm, but bordering on cold, including the chips, which are usually a highlight. The chicken in both burritos was particularly disappointing: it was tough, rubbery, and lacked the usual tenderness and flavour I’ve come to expect from GYG. Even more frustrating was the lack of fillings. The burritos felt underfilled and incomplete, missing key ingredients that should have been standard — it honestly felt rushed or carelessly prepared. Overall, it was a letdown, especially considering GYG’s usual standard of quality at other stores. Absolutely appalling. $47 order and everything is wrong. Ordered through the app at home and my brother in law picked it up on his way home. They mucked him around in the drive through, seemed to be some confusion about the order and there was no line but the staff were flustered. Ordered and paid for queso which wasn’t in the bag. I ordered a mini cali burrito with ground beef and it came with chicken and missing the extras. My brother in law ordered 2 spicy chicken cali burritos both of which were mild. Also asked for plenty of roasted jalapeño salsa and the staff only put 1 small tub in the bag. Disappointed is an understatement to spend $47 on food and nothing in the order was correct.
