After a long day at work, then visiting my husband in hospital I was headed home at last BUT needed to pick up some dinner. KFC sounded good. So at 8.10pm tonight I find myself lined up in the KFC drive thru at Redcliffe. Only a couple of cars in front of me. 15 mins it took to get to the speaker box and place my order. 🙄 should I have gone elsewhere? Probably ..... but I was already in line with cars in front and cars behind unable to move. After placing my order it took another 10 mins to actually get to the service windows. 🤦♀️ Am I upset? No although maybe we shouldn't, we have come to expect time consuming bad service from fast food franchises. I finally make it to the service windows where an obviously flustered and embarrassed young lady explains they have no original chicken at present and it will be a 12 minute wait. KFC with NO chicken! 🤷♀️ I ask if I can change my order...... no we don't have anything. 🙄 I can wait 12 mins or get my money back. Look honestly, by the time I go elsewhere, my chicken would already be ready. I am an understanding person, I know this poor girl is obviously stressed, the staff are obviously having a bad time so I politely tell them I will wait. She asks if I could park to wait. Of course I can. I ask if I should park in the carpark at the end of the drive thru? She replies, yes. Logical I would have thought? They take my rego and I proceed to park. Just over 15 mins later, a staff member approaches my windows and says "you should've parked at the front of the store". I replied that I had been told to park here. Then with as much attitude as this young lady could muster she said, "for future reference park at the front of the store". WELL that was the last straw.... I feel I had been polite and understanding, especially after a very long, tiring and worrying week. I was still able to laugh about KFC running out of chicken....I was able to give the staff the courtesy of not showing how annoyed I was and in return I received attitude, arrogance and rudeness. Not one staff member thanked me for my patience, offered me a discount or a freebie for the inconvenience or even gave me cutlery, serviettes or anything else. 😡😡 As I was leaving the drive thru was packed, and at a standstill - presumably because they had no chicken??? Maybe they should send a polite staff member out to explain to the customers and give them a choice before they get jammed in the drive thru? The whole process took 50 mins - disgusting...
Read moreSo, I'd approached this particular KFC with caution after reading the reviews. However, I've been to KFC stateside, so my baseline for terrible is clearly defined.
Negetive up first; Considering it was busy (dole day aka bogan payday), I was surprised the chicken was dry and had been in the warmer for a while. The gravy was floury. There was a handful of 'hairs' that actually could have been a little bit of stuffing from a soft toy amongst the nuggets, and there were no sauces in the bag.
On a more positive note, chips were fresh and hot, with the perfect amount of salt. If that's a consistent thing in this location, I'll return for chips alone. The staff were friendly, well presented, and had the food out quickly. The tables and floors were clean.
In all, the chicken might have just been unlucky timing. The soft toy lint could be from a Christmas hat given the time of year, but the chips were great, and the staff and restaurant were good.
Compared to the KFC/Taco Bell truckstop combos all over the US, Redcliffe KFC is miles ahead of them. I'll give it another go in the future.
Update June 2025. I've gone back in for a family feast (with some hot and spicy pieces added) this evening for the crew. The chicken is hot and juicy and crispy, and the chips are as good as they were in my first review. The nuggets had been in the warmer a bit but still tasty. It was bloody busy in there, and yet the team are still friendly, well presented, and got the food out very quickly. In all, you've made a definite improvement on the chicken. We're genuinely happy, and will be...
Read moreDisappointed with the Quality of Food Received from KFC
Dear KFC Customer Care,
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and dissatisfaction with the quality of the food I received from your restaurant tonight.
Firstly, let me start by highlighting the unappetizing appearance of the food. It was evident that the food had not been prepared with care or attention to detail.
Moreover, the taste of the food was equally disappointing. The chicken lacked flavor and tasted bland, as if it had not been seasoned properly. The texture was also very off-putting, with a strange rubbery consistency that made it difficult to enjoy. Even the sides, such as the mashed potatoes and coleslaw, were lackluster and did not live up to the usual standards of KFC.
Furthermore, I would like to address the issue of the long wait time. Despite placing my order well in advance, I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time to receive my food. This delay not only inconvenienced me but also resulted in the food arriving lukewarm, further compromising its overall quality.
As a loyal customer, I believe it is important to provide constructive feedback when a negative experience occurs. I have always appreciated KFC's commitment to serving high-quality food, and I sincerely hope that my experience tonight was an isolated incident.
I kindly request that you address these concerns and take the necessary steps to ensure that such instances do not recur. I believe it is crucial to maintain the reputation and standards that KFC has built...
