EDITED: I am pleased to say that I was contacted by Redcliffe Tavern and they explained that they had issues the week we dined there. They apologised profusely and invited us back to dine again. The lady I spoke to was lovely and said they had taken steps to correct the issues with the vegan parma and the burger in question. So that is fantastic service right there.
We have previously gone here for drinks only - it's an easy walk from where we live - so decided we just had to try their food as they are so close. I really wanted to like their food - because it is great that taverns offer vegetarian options - but the food was quite ordinary. I ordered the Pumpkin Cheese Risotto but it wasn't available so had to get the Vegan Parma. My husband got the Nature's Bliss burger - which had shredded mushroom instead of a patty. The burger looked okay but was incredibly dry - should have had some kind of sauce on the shredded mushroom to make it a little more palatable. The vegan parma was not appealing to look at - it looked overcooked - vegan schnitzels don't have to be cooked as long as real chicken schnitzels - so it was quite overcooked. The topping - which was a pesto with olives and capsicum and vegan cheese was kind of odd tasting - the olives were overpowering - it was also quite dry - and as the parma was overcooked it could have used some proper sauce. I couldn't finish it. The best part was the side salad - great selection of leaves and a nice dressing. There was also an absolute overabundance of chips! So so many chips - couldn't even finish half - they were just ordinary. If the price of the mains had been reasonable - I wouldn't really care too much - but the vegan parma was $32 - so overpriced for what you get and more expensive than the chicken parma. So won't be going back for a meal there again. But the staff here are amazing - all very friendly and efficient - pity the food doesn't match...
Read moreNice open area bar with sports screens around the crevices and always friendly and helpful staff.Full bar with great prices. Been to the Wednesday schnitzel night at the Redcliffe Tavern a few times now, by myself and with my sons.Great big schnittys at tiny prices. $16 for a schnitty with choice of chips/salad, mash/vegies, chips/vegies and choice of several gravies. Can upgrade to a parmie for $18 and a "special" parmie for $20! Absolute bargains all. Beautiful, crisp, massive chicken schnittys that fill a plate. I order the vegies because they are always perfectly cooked. Often in pubs, vegie standards are neglected (usually the apprentice's task) but here they are crisp, flavourful and compliment the meal impeccably. My boys are BIG eaters and this fills them nicely. I can never finish it so the staff kindly give me a T/A container to take home. Never too busy I wondered [with this great value] why the joint wasn't packed to the rafters every Wednesday. While dining in, I realised about a dozen different people come in and pickup takeaway so, I'm assuming, word is out and they're taken home for dinner. Best value in town for an easy Wednesday night dinner, I'll be...
Read moreFemale bar tender was really friendly. Unfortunately that was the highlight. Ordered starters of Spanish prawns. Prawns were tough (overcooked) and not deveined. For mains I ordered the extra parmy. I was asked if I wanted a sauce to which I replied no as the parmy should be moist enough to not need a sauce. My mistake. The chicken was very dry as was the topping. Oh for the sauce. At least the chips were cooked well. To top it off a table of 7 came in within a few metres of where I was sitting. I had an empty plate and glass on my table as I finished my wine. The male bar tender came over and shut the nearby blinds for the table of 7 and headed back to the bar empty handed leaving me with a dirty plate and glass at the table. Would not have minded if no staff had come by as times are tough but for staff to walk by and not remove the dirty cutlery is not...
