Hubby and I stopped here for a quick drink and something to eat on Sunday morning. We enjoyed sitting outside, overlooking the water. (Never mind the road. We didn't care at all.) My coffee was strong and hot, and hubby enjoyed his hot chocolate. My ham and cheese croissant was fine, if a wee bit squashed, and the chutney was very good - a bit spicy and quite sweet. Hubby liked his taste of it too. He really enjoyed his smoked salmon bagel. He said the salmon was great, bagel fresh and tasty, very good all up. Loved the cute crockery too. Service was friendly, and it was lovely to see the water (even with scaffolding across the road). It is a nice, friendly space at the bottom of an apartment building, and larger than it seems. They also have artwork from a local artist, and they sell various items like hot chocolate powder, marshmallows and so on. A good place to stop!

What a difference a little make over can do. The shop is looking amazing, colours, plants, and set up is all on point and the place looks amazing. Service is great, new owner James is finding his rhythm and creating the best coffee and snack stop on the water 💧 If you haven’t been in, you’re missing out. Get in, support young, local small businesses and help James and the team to continue to succeed 😊

The coffee is great, here. The ambience is good. The staff are smiling, but quiet and respectful. The cafe offers general quietness for those who sip alone, with small tables, or larger tables for bigger collectives. The wall art gives this place a cool vibe. Inside is dark and atmospheric. Outside ( opposite the beach) is sheltered, and shaded for your protection. Bike racks for cyclists.

First time for me!

On a first contact coffee meeting lol

The lady I was meeting knew about the place and said let's meet there for coffee she has good taste

The coffee was nice I had a XL decaffe late. (I know decaffe cut me some slack lol) Well it was creamy not watery perfect and that's hard to find first go I'll be back also it has a quaint atmosphere even though its in a modern building almost a melbourne vibe

Great view of the water pity so many cars driving past but that's not their fault its a busy road the view makes up for it we sat inside so didn't really hear the trafic

Maybe outside is differnt cant pass judgement didn't sit there

Strange lots of people I know up here didn't know about it but they will now

Sorry no photos I keep forgetting to take some I'll...

I love the Drowned Rat. The service is always exceptional, no matter how busy the staff are they are always friendly and welcoming. Their text ahead service is great for anyone who is busy and on the go with limited time and they have a great selection of savoury and sweet treats that are fresh and yummy. Plus those crystal infused soda waters are heavenly. Something for everyone to grab on the go and take across to the beach or park or dine in and enjoy the day as it slowly unfolds. Thank you for always going above and beyond Bec and the team. You are all doing an outstanding community service especially during these...
